Use

SAPconnect has a uniform administration interface which can help set up the external communication of an SAP system using SMTP and monitor its running send operation. You can navigate from here to all settings relevant for SAPconnect. In addition to this, you are offered some function that help you to maintain and manage your SAPconnect environment. You access the SAPconnect administration interface by calling transaction SOADM.

Prerequisite

The authorizations for SAPconnect administration are contained in the roles SAP_BC_SRV_COM_ADMIN and SAP_BC_SRV_GBT_ADMIN.

Activities

An SMTP node needs to be in use in SOADM under Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step SMTP Nodes End of the navigation path (or transaction SCOT ) to use the SMTP plug in. For more detailed information on configuring your system, see SMTP Configuration Guide.

You can add more systems, that is, create new Nodes, even during operation.

Outgoing messages are first stored in a queue. You have to schedule send processes so that the messages are sent from the queue to the external communications system. You can distribute incoming messages on the basis of the recipient addresses using Inbound Distribution.

You can also change the default settings for Confirmations of Receipt on the Internet. You can specify a default domain so that messages can be sent externally from users and objects to which no Internet address is assigned.

Tools for monitoring and error analysis are available to enable you to monitor sending. You can check the operating status of the external communication components in the SAP system and evaluate the send status of the documents. If errors occur, you can configure a Trace that logs the processing of messages.

An overview of the settings that you have to make in the SAP System in order to enable sending can be found in the documentation on External Sending in the SAP System.
