Troubleshooting Guide in SCN

There is a problem solving-based Troubleshooting Guide in the SAP Community Network at the address http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/TechTSG/%28ES%29+Embedded+Search+Troubleshooting+GuideInformation published on SAP site.

Also note the following SAP Notes:

  • 1587221 - The search result is not as expected

  • 1739836 - Problems with text (files) in Enterprise Search

Checking the Consistency of Search Connector Objects

If there are connectors in the administration cockpit with the status With Errors, you can start an automatic consistency check to analyze the error.

Select the connectors that have an error status and choose Start of the navigation path Actions Next navigation step Consistency Check End of the navigation path. The system performs a sequence of tests to establish the cause of the error. You receive the check results with details of the individual tests. Read the error messages to receive more detailed information about the cause of the error.

Example

If no search request is defined for a connector, the system cannot perform a search and the consistency check reports an error. Define a search request to solve the error.

Continuing Indexing After Errors

If there are connectors in the administration cockpit with the status With Errors, check whether or not the error message is Error during indexing.

To restart an indexing run that was stopped in this way, select the affected connectors and choose Start of the navigation path Actions Next navigation step Continue Indexing End of the navigation path. This command continues the indexing run at the point at which it was stopped due to an error.

Comparing Users After Changes to Roles or User Profiles

If you have changed roles or user profiles in your system, you must run a manual user comparison otherwise errors can occur during authorization checks.

  1. Log on to the SAP system and call transaction PFCG.

  2. Enter the changed role or changed user in the input field and choose Display.

  3. Go to the User tab and choose Compare Users.

Resolving Naming Conflicts After an Import

If you import new models to your system, you should start a check for naming conflicts afterwards. For more information, see Resolving Naming Conflicts.
