Configuration control offers a single transaction for changing the actual configuration by installing, removing and swapping the equipment of a technical object. For more information about these modes, see Modes for Changing the Actual Configuration .
There is no integration with
Warehouse Management
and
Handling Unit Management.
In Customizing for
Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
, you have:
Defined default values for the movement type and the special stock for installation and dismantling under
Make General Settings for Installation/Dismantling.
Defined the notification properties for installing and removing components under
Determine Properties of Notifications for Installing and Dismantling Parts
.
Set the
Inst. at FunctLoc
indicator for the relevant equipment category when using a
mixed hierarchy
of functional locations and equipment under
Define Installation at Functional Location
Activated the data for the
Configuration Control
component under
Define Additional Business Views for Equipment Categories
for the respective equipment category.
Defined for serial number profiles the notification category of system messages that should be issued for stock inconsistencies under
Define Serial Number Profiles
. We recommend setting the status of this notification to
Error.
Entered problem codes (event categories) and cause codes (part statuses) for the respective notification type of the spare part removal under
Determine Properties of Notifications for Installing and Removing Parts
. This is so you can integrate part statuses for notifications for the removal of equipments when changing the actual configuration. The problem code/event category is displayed in the notification header and the cause code/part status is displayed in the item data of the notification.
You have activated the modes for changing the actual configuration by implementing BAdI BADI_CCM_IE4N_MODE or/and making the required BOM Customizing settings .
In addition, the following prerequisites have been met in the system:
You have activated the tab page for serialization data in the equipment master record, and the equipment has both a material number and a serial number.
There is an equipment hierarchy or a mixed hierarchy of equipment, equipment BOM items, and functional locations in the system for the technical object concerned.
If the system is to perform local configuration checks, you have maintained the master parts list of the technical object concerned and linked it to the actual configuration. For more information, see Preparatory Activities for the Configuration Check .
The following table provides an overview of the features you can use to install, dismantle, and swap equipment to change the actual configuration. For more detailed information about the individual functions, see Installation of Components , Dismantling of Components , and Swapping of Equipment .

If you want to undo a dismantling or an installation with goods movement, you must execute the opposite functions. There is no independent cancellation function.
For inspection lots, you must make a usage decision and post the stock to the unrestricted-use stock before you can execute the opposite function with movement type 502.
This function does not support goods receipt for the purchase order (movement type 101) or stock transfers.
You cannot simultaneously remove and install several pieces of equipment.
You cannot use forced installation for non-serialized materials (BOM removal and installation).
The function is not intended for batch input or for using the ‘call transaction’ command.
Master batch update is not supported during goods receipt of equipment (goods movement into stock without PM integration).
