Function documentationReport Symbol Group

Each report symbol is assigned to a report symbol group when it is defined. This report symbol group serves to group the report symbols according to application area. Standard function modules are assigned to the report symbol groups that group symbols of the type Parameter; they are used to determine the default parameter values. You can create additional report symbol groups and function modules, or copy and adapt the existing function modules that are created as user exits (see also Interface for Determining Default Parameter Values).

You also assign to the report symbol group the report application for which the relevant report symbol group determines parameter values.

Note Note

The assignment to the report application is necessary so that before default parameter value determination is called in the report information system, the keys for the application objects can be queried that are required for the selection of parameter symbols or parameter objects in the determination function module.

The report can be displayed in the report information system only if it contains symbols that are assigned to a report application (for example, symbols for the work area object for a standard operating procedure).

A report application is not assigned to report symbol groups whose assigned symbols only serve to output additional data on a report, such as the data for the sales organization.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

You are editing report symbol groups in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools under Specify Report Symbol Groups.

Features

Each report symbol group is assigned to a report symbol type that identifies the symbols as placeholders for certain data. The following table shows how the report symbol group is dependent on the report symbol type:

Report Symbol Type

Report Symbol Group

01 (Symbol)

00 Determination of the phrase key of a phrase-enabled characteristic from the classification system and output of the corresponding phrase text

01 Direct determination of the symbol value from the classification system or specification management

02 (Parameter)

02 Determination of the symbol value from the parameter application. The symbol value is transferred to the main program for default parameter value determination.

04 through 13 (Determination of default parameter values, see below)

03 (Descriptor)

03 Determination of the phrase key and output of the corresponding phrase. Depending on the symbol definition on the report template, the output is either as text, long text, graphic, or phrase code.

Each report symbol group is assigned a function module for symbol expansion. The report symbol groups 04 through 13 (and others) are also assigned the function modules for determining the default parameter values:

The following table shows the standard function modules assigned for the report symbol groups 04 through 13 and G00–G09:

Report Symbol Group

Task of the Determination Function Module

04

Determine the material keys

05

Determine the data for the sales organization

06

Determine the address data for the report recipient

06x

Determine the address data on the cover sheet of the material safety data sheet according to the standard address format in the recipient's or sender's country.

07

Determine process-specific data for the report. This includes the generation date, rating(s), version, and print date.

08

Determine the application object descriptions of all report shipping orders that are included in a report shipping package. Symbols of this symbol group are used in report shipping, for example, on cover sheets and acknowledgements of receipt.

Examples of application object descriptions are: material description, work area description, or the name of a person who had an accident.

10

Determine the data for a standard operating procedure

11

Determine the data for an accident report

12

Determine the data for the injury/illness log

13

Determine the data for the disposal documents

G00 to G09

Determine the data for label generation
