 Value Assignment Workflow

Purpose

The EH&S workflowautomates the editing of value assignment types. The collective term EH&S workflow groups together a series of tools that offer you support with creating workflow definitionswithin the SAP Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) component.

For more information, see:

  • The Implementation Guide (IMG) for Basic Data and Tools in the EH&S Workflow section.

Process Flow

  1. A user makes a change for a specification with or without a change number to an object that was defined in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools as the start event for the start condition of your workflow definition. You can define the objects of the following categories as start events:

    • Value assignment types

    • Specification header

    • Identifiers

    • Specification-material assignment

    • References

The SAP system then checks whether the start condition has been completely fulfilled. For this purpose, all value assignment types that were defined explicitly as value assignment types for the start condition must have been entered for the specification. This means that specifications not edited completely are excluded from the workflow. For more information, see Specify Start Condition in the IMG for Basic Data and Tools .

  2. The report RC1WFSUB determines all specifications that were changed since the last workflow run. It checks for every combination (specification, changed object) whether the start condition for the workflow definition is fulfilled. All specifications that have passed the check are transferred as a set of specifications to the workflow. For more information, see Set Up Job for Starting EH&S Workflow in the IMG for Basic Data and Tools .

  3. The workflow is started and for each combination (specification in specification set, property in task profile) creates a work itemthat is sent to all persons assigned to the workflow definition.

The task profile is assigned to the workflow step in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools and defines which value assignment types must be processed by the persons responsible. For more information, see the IMG activity Specify Task Profile .

    Example Example

The value assignment type Solubility in water is defined as a start event and is changed for a specification. The workflow checks whether the value assignment type Density has already been edited for the specification because this value assignment type was entered under the value assignment types of the start condition. If this is the case, the workflow ensures that the value assignment type Stability in water is checked and, if necessary, corrected by the person responsible.

    End of the example.

Result

When a person responsible accepts a work item, this then appears in their inbox only and disappears from the inboxes of the other persons responsible.

When a person responsible executes a work item, it appears directly in the value assignment for the relevant combination (specification, property). Using the Work item context function, you can view the change documents that caused the work item to be created .

If the person responsible makes changes to the value assignment type, other change documents are created that can lead to new workflows the next time the background job (report RC1WFSUB) is run.

After saving, the person responsible can enter a text as a comment and terminate processing of the step.
