Function documentationPerformance Values and Potential Values in Talent Management

The evaluation of an employee's performance and potential forms the basis of the Talent Management process.

Prerequisites

  • In Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, under Start of the navigation path Basic Settings Next navigation step Analysis Periods for Performance and Potential Values End of the navigation path, you have specified the frequency with which you assess the performance and potential of your employees in your enterprise.

  • You have made the Customizing settings for assessing employees. Depending on how you assess employees in your enterprise, you make different settings. You have the following options:

    • Talent assessment with predefined Performance Management process and talent assessment document

The following prerequisites must be met:

      • In Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, you have made the settings under Start of the navigation path Assessment of Employees Next navigation step Talent Assessment End of the navigation path.

In particular, in the Define Process Periods and Groupings Customizing activity, you have specified the validity periods for the documents that the managers use to assess the performance and potential of their employees. The system transfers this validity period for the corresponding infotype record of the infotypes Performance (7409) and Potential (7408) that it generates from the performance assessment or potential assessment.

      • For the system to be able to use managers' assessments of performance and potential to create infotype records for the infotypes Performance and Potential, there must be an active implementation of the Business Add-In (BAdI) Document - Follow-Up (Background) (HRHAP00_FOLLOW_UP).

The following active implementations are provided with the standard SAP system:

        • HRHAP00_PMP_PM_POT for performance (and, if applicable, potential)

This implementation transfers the values from the appraisal document for performance to the Performance infotype when the manager sets the status of the document to In Talent Review Meeting.

If you want to transfer performance values only, use this implementation.

          Note Note

In Customizing for Personnel Management, under Start of the navigation path Personnel Development Next navigation step Objective Setting and Appraisals Next navigation step Settings for Predefined Performance Management Process Next navigation step Define Template for Performance Management Process End of the navigation path, you can specify that the managers can also store potential assessments in the appraisal documents for performance. In this case, this implementation also transfers data to the Potential infotype.

          End of the note.
        • HRTMC_FOLLOW_UP_POT for potential

This implementation transfers the values from the talent assessment document for potential to the Potential infotype when the manager sets the status of the document to In Talent Review Meeting.

    • Employee assessment with flexible appraisal processes

The following prerequisites must be met here:

      • In Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, you have made the settings under Start of the navigation path Assessment of Employees Next navigation step Employee Assessment with Flexible Appraisal Processes End of the navigation path.

      • For the system to be able to use managers' assessments of performance and potential to create infotype records for the infotypes Performance and Potential, there must be an active implementation of the Business Add-In (BAdI) Prerequisite for Status Change in Appraisal Document (HRHAP00_STATCHG_PREQ). In the standard SAP system, the implementation Write Performance/Potential to Infotypes 7409/7408 (HRTMC_TMC_PERF_POT) is active. This implementation has the following filter values:

        • Write Performance/Potential to Infotypes 7409/7408 (TMC_PERF_POT)

        • Write Performance to Infotype 7409 (TMC_PERFORMANCE)

        • Write Potential to Infotype 7408 (TMC_POTENTIAL)
