The evaluation of an employee's performance and potential forms the basis of the Talent Management process.
In Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, under , you have specified the frequency with which you assess the performance and potential of your employees in your enterprise.
You have made the Customizing settings for assessing employees. Depending on how you assess employees in your enterprise, you make different settings. You have the following options:
Talent assessment with predefined Performance Management process and talent assessment document
The following prerequisites must be met:
In Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, you have made the settings under
.In particular, in the Define Process Periods and Groupings
Customizing activity, you have specified the validity periods for the documents that the managers use to assess the performance and potential of their employees. The system transfers this validity period for the corresponding infotype record of the infotypes Performance
(7409) and Potential
(7408) that it generates from the performance assessment or potential assessment.
For the system to be able to use managers' assessments of performance and potential to create infotype records for the infotypes Performance
and Potential
, there must be an active implementation of the Business Add-In (BAdI) Document - Follow-Up (Background)
(HRHAP00_FOLLOW_UP
).
The following active implementations are provided with the standard SAP system:
HRHAP00_PMP_PM_POT
for performance (and, if applicable, potential)
This implementation transfers the values from the appraisal document for performance to the Performance
infotype when the manager sets the status of the document to In Talent Review Meeting
.
If you want to transfer performance values only, use this implementation.
Note
In Customizing for Personnel Management, under , you can specify that the managers can also store potential assessments in the appraisal documents for performance. In this case, this implementation also transfers data to the Potential
infotype.
HRTMC_FOLLOW_UP_POT
for potential
This implementation transfers the values from the talent assessment document for potential to the Potential
infotype when the manager sets the status of the document to In Talent Review Meeting
.
Employee assessment with flexible appraisal processes
The following prerequisites must be met here:
In Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, you have made the settings under
.For the system to be able to use managers' assessments of performance and potential to create infotype records for the infotypes Performance
and Potential
, there must be an active implementation of the Business Add-In (BAdI) Prerequisite for Status Change in Appraisal Document
(HRHAP00_STATCHG_PREQ
). In the standard SAP system, the implementation Write Performance/Potential to Infotypes 7409/7408
(HRTMC_TMC_PERF_POT
) is active. This implementation has the following filter values:
Write Performance/Potential to Infotypes 7409/7408
(TMC_PERF_POT
)
Write Performance to Infotype 7409
(TMC_PERFORMANCE
)
Write Potential to Infotype 7408
(TMC_POTENTIAL
)
Before talent review meetings take place, managers appraise the performance and potential of their employees.
For more information, see Performance Values and Potential Values: Manager Assessment.
The participants of a talent review meeting can calibrate the performance assessments and potential assessments, meaning confirm the managers' assessments for the talents discussed, or specify a different evaluation.
For more information, see Performance Values and Potential Values in the Talent Review Meeting and Performance Values and Potential Values in the Talent Review Meeting: Talents with Invalid Performance Assessment/Potential Assessment.
The talent profile for managers and talent management specialists displays an employee's performance values and potential values.
For more information, see Performance Values and Potential Values in the Talent Profile.
The calibration grid symbol displays the position of a talent in the grid based on his or her current performance values and potential values, as well as his or her previous position in the grid.
For more information, see Performance Values and Potential Values in the Calibration Grid Symbol.
Where you display the performance or potential of an employee specifies how the system determines the valid performance value or potential value for the employee.
For more information, see Determination of the Valid Performance Value and Potential Value.
The system stores the performance values and potential values in the infotypes Performance
(7409) and Potential
(7408).
For more information, see Performance (Infotype 7409) and Potential (Infotype 7408).
