Example: Symbols for Different Value Assignment Types

In the following examples, all characters (formatted both as hidden and not hidden) for the symbols are shown visible. The following applies for the formatting of the paragraph marks:

  • Paragraph marks formatted green are formatted as hidden.

  • Paragraph marks formatted black are formatted as not hidden.

Example 1

With blank compression dependent on symbols for different value assignment types, the condition enclosing everything contains symbols for characteristics of different value assignment types. The first valid value assignment of the characteristic is used for the decision whether a symbol has a value outside a master repeating group.

The characteristic must therefore have a value and be in a value assignment with a usage that matches the usage for the generation variant. If, in the example below, the value assignment type SAP_EHS_1016_009 has five value assignments, three of which match the usage for the generation variant, and a value is contained in the characteristic SAP_EHS_1016_009_REMARK (G1016009RE) in the third of these three valid instances, this third instance is used (for “first valid value assignment” see also SAP Note 579846).

Example 2

In contrast, the blank compression is contained within a master repeating group in the following example.

For each loop of the master repeating group, the current value assignment of the value assignment type SAP_EHS_1016_013 is considered, that is, the characteristics in the condition for BNG009 each contain the values of the value assignment currently being considered.

Layout Example:
