You use this process to copy a position.

You are familiar with the technical characteristics of the process. For more information, see Customizing for the component Personnel & Organization
under .
You are familiar with the specified infotypes, in particular with the infotype Relationships (1001).
You select the position that you want to copy and choose the corresponding function.
You specify the validity period for the new position.
You change the default values that the system suggests for the change as required (transferred from the position that you selected as a template).
The system creates the new position with the characteristics that you specified and also transfers all other characteristics from the copy template with the following exceptions:
The system only transfers the assignment to a master cost center from the copy template if this assignment has its own corresponding infotype record (relationship 011).
The system does not transfer the assignment to position holders (relationship 008).
In doing so, the system assigns the newly created position to the organizational unit (relationship 003) to which the copy template is assigned.
