 Redirection of Inbound Deliveries

Purpose

You can use this process to change the contract packager (CP) of an existing inbound delivery to another CP of the same entry point. Redirection can be executed after the inbound delivery is created and before the Received on dock (ROD) status is attained. A redirection may take place for the following reasons:

  • Incorrect planning parameters

  • Time, space or other means of production constraints in the original CP

  • Manual overriding of the automatic planning process

A redirection is visible to the supplier through a changed delivery document provided by SAP ICH.

If there is more than one inbound delivery on the truck arriving at a CP and a redirection is intended, then all the inbound deliveries on the truck might be involved. This is called a grouped redirection.

Process Flow

  • Redirection Between CPs

In an inbound delivery, redirection simply means changing the storage location of an inbound delivery to another storage location in the same plant. The new storage location should belong to a different MRP area. Both storage locations must represent CPs of the same entry point.

A new storage location means that there is also a change in the warehouse number. Therefore, two different SAP EWM warehouses are involved. The inbound delivery is deleted in the old warehouse and is created in the new warehouse.

  • Grouped Redirection

For grouped redirection all inbound deliveries that have the same values in transport ID, delivery date, vendor, plant and storage location are considered to be arriving on the same truck and are proposed by the system for a grouped redirection.
