Use

Background processing is used to automate routine tasks and optimize the use of the SAP computing resources. Background processing is used to run long-running or resource-intensive programs during times of lower system load. Consequently, dialog modes are not overloaded and jobs that run in the background are not subject to the runtime restrictions of the dialog modes.

Note

Background jobs do not run immediately. Therefore, some time can pass before the required action is run in the background. In the administration cockpit, you can choose Refresh to display the progress of the action using the status changes.

Indexing and Delta Indexing

Indexing and delta indexing runs that are started manually from the administration cockpit are run as background jobs.

Managing Search Object Connectors

When you create, update, or delete a connector, the action in question is executed as a background job.
