Use

You can use this function to define, update, or delete query views of queries in Business Context Viewer (BCV).

Prerequisites

You can define a new query view only if the following applies:

  • You have the necessary authorizations, which are granted to you in one of the following ways:

    • In the Role Maintenance (PFCG) transaction, you are assigned to the BCV User (SAP_BCV_USER) role.

    • On the SAP NetWeaver Portal, you are assigned to the BCV User (com.sap.pct.bs_fnd.BCV_USR) role.

  • You have set up search connectors and query definitions or use the predefined ones.

For more information about setting up search connectors and queries, see Definition of Search Connectors and Definition of Queries.

Features

Predefined Query Views

Depending on the application using BCV, you can find a set of predefined query views in your system. You can use these as they are, or as templates to create your own query views.

For more information, see Business Content for Business Context Viewer.

Consistency Check of a Query View

You can check the consistency of the newly created or already existing query view. To do so, choose Check Consistency.

Testing Query Views

You can test existing query views in the configuration center by choosing Test in the starting page of query view maintenance.

Deletion of Query Views

You can delete your query views. To do so, open the query view in the configuration center, and choose Delete. The system checks if the query view is used in any dashboards, and notifies you of the check results.

Copying a Query View

You can copy an existing query view. To do so, open the query view for maintenance, and choose Save As. You must give the new copied query view a new ID.

Assigning Query Views to Access Control Lists (ACLs)

You can assign query views to ACLs, on the Authorization tab page of query view maintenance.

Activities

To define query views, you have the following options:

  • In the configuration center, choose Define Query Views.

  • In Customizing under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications Next navigation step Business Context Viewer Next navigation step User Interface Next navigation step Define Query Views End of the navigation path.

For more information about the process of defining query views, see Defining Query Views in BCV.

Recommendation

Using the configuration center is the recommended approach to making configuration settings in BCV. You should use Customizing only in exceptional cases. For more information, see Configuration Center.
