Definition

An object appears in the hit list if the characteristic values assigned to the object match the search criteria you entered.

The Search Result for Single-Value Characteristics

Example

If you are searching for an object using characteristics LENGTH, MATERIAL, and COLOR, the values you enter for these characteristics in the find object function must match the characteristic values assigned to the object. If you enter the value IRON for characteristic MATERIAL, but an object has the value STEEL, the object is not found, even if the other values you entered match the values assigned to the object.

The Search Result for Multiple-Value Characteristics

Example

If you enter the values red, green, and blue for characteristic COLOR, objects that have the value red or green or blue are found.

The Search Result When Using Intervals

If intervals are assigned to objects as characteristic values, the search also finds objects whose characteristic values are partly within the interval you are searching for.

Example

An interval of 3-6 was assigned to an object. If you enter any of the following intervals as search criteria, you find this object: 2-4, 3.5-5.5, 4.5-7, or 1-7
