Service Roles and Authorizations in SAP HANA Platform

You create a reference user in SAP HANA (for example,SAP_GEF_USER) during system setup. The reference user is configured in the DB connection. It connects to and accesses SAP HANA spatial data for each framework user. Therefore, it’s important to control the authorizations assigned to the reference user.

A design-time role (sap.gef.data::gef_user) is delivered in SAP HANA DU for SAP Geographical Enablement Framework. It provides basic authorization to access the framework schema in SAP HANA (SAP_GEF). You can assign this role to SAP_GEF_USER or other reference users that are created.
