Overwriting a Characteristic

Procedure

To change a characteristic for a specific class:

1. In class maintenance, enter the name of the class and choose Change class.

2. Choose the Char. tab and select the characteristic you want to overwrite.

3. – Choose Overwrite char. or  Edit   Characteristic   Overwrite characteristic  to change basic data, additional data, or values.

   This takes you into the characteristic, where you can change the attributes of the characteristic for this class. Make your changes on each tab.

   You can assign dependencies to the characteristic for the class by choosing  Extras  Object dependencies. 

   – To overwrite characteristic values, choose Overwrite vals or  Edit  Characteristic  Overwrite values. 

   If you want to link object dependencies to a value, select the value with the cursor and choose  Extras  Object dependencies. 

4. Make your changes and go back to the Char. tab of the class.

The Overwritten indicator is selected automatically for the overwritten characteristic.

Update Overwritten Attributes

1. To do this, choose processing type Change class.

2. Go to the Char. tab and place the cursor on the characteristic for which you want to delete the overwriting.

3. Choose Overwrite char. or Overwrite vals. You see the characteristics maintenance function, where you can overwrite characteristic attributes or characteristic values.

4. Select the characteristic or value for which you want to delete the overwriting, and choose  Extras  Overwrite  Delete. 

Choose  Extras  Overwrite  Delete all   to delete all of the overwriting.
