Copying CatalogsLocate this document in the navigation structure

You want to adapt a predefined catalog delivered by SAP that is used with the SAP Fiori launchpad. You can create a copy of the catalog using the configuration or the customizing scope and then adapt it to your needs.

For example, you want to change the title of a catalog or the icons for app launchers in a catalog. You can add tiles and app launchers, or change navigation targets by selecting a different LPD_CUST launchpad. The copy is only on tile level, that is, you can change the title of the catalog without breaking the reference of the tiles.

First you copy the predefined content using the configuration or the customizing scope. The copy references the content in the original catalog, including the tiles and target mappings. Any tile configuration changes in the original are reflected in the copy. Then you make the requiredchanges for a delivered catalog using the customizing scope. The changes are valid only for the selected client.

Once you have made changes to the copied content, the connection with the original content is lost. Any changes in the original for the parts that you have modified in the copy are no longer visible in the copied content. For example, if a tile changes in the original catalog after you made the copy, this change is still visible in the referenced tiles for the copy, except for those tiles that you have already modified in the copy. Here, the copy is decoupled from the original.

Note
  • When you display the configuration screen of a tile of a copied catalog, you receive a message in the footer to indicate that you are in the reference tile.
  • You can make a copy of a copied catalog.
Caution

Be aware that a tile or target mapping in a copied catalog does not contain any translated texts, once it is decoupled from the original. When you copy and change content, the translation is lost and it is necessary to translate the content again.

You can copy a catalog as follows:
  1. Launch the SAP Fiori Launchpad Designer in configuration scope or customizing scope.
  2. Drag and drop the catalog from the left-hand side panel into the copy zone (blue in color).

A Copy Catalog dialog box appears.

  3. Enter title and ID for the new catalog and choose Copy.

A new catalog with the updated details appears on the left-hand side panel and the tiles of the copied catalog on the content area.
