Reading PSA and Updating a Data TargetLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can use this process to further update data from the PSA. This takes place after all data packages have arrived in the PSA and have been successfully updated.

Note

Note that it is not possible to create more than one process of type Read PSA and Update Data Target for one request or InfoPackage at any one time. You cannot simultaneously update into more than one data target. Updating into more than one data target can currently only be performed sequentially.

This process replaces the indicator Subsequently Update into Data Targets on the Processing tab page in the Scheduler. If you are using an InfoPackage in a process chain, this flag is greyed out in the Scheduler, and the Read PSA and Update Data Target process is controlled by process chain maintenance.

Note

Any settings previously made in the InfoPackage are then ignored.

Procedure
  1. Under Administration function in the Data Warehousing Workbench, choose Process Chains.
  2. Navigate in the left-hand area in the chosen Display Component until you reach the process chain that you want to insert the process into. Select this process chaing by double-clicking. Alternatively, you can create a new process chain.

The system displays the process chain plan view on the right side of the screen. You can find additional information under Creating a Process Chain.

  3. In the left side of the screen, choose Process Types.

The system now displays the process categories available.

  4. Drag the Read PSA and Update Data Target application process to the process chain. The dialog box for inserting process variants appears.
  5. In the Process Variants field, enter the name of the application process you want to insert into the process chain. Input help is provided here, listing all process variants that have already been created.

If you want to create a new process variant, choose Create. A dialog box appears, where you can enter a description for your application process.

Enter the description for your application process and choose Continue. The process chain maintenance screen appears.

In the upper screen area, the system displays the following information for the variant:

    Technical Name

Description (You can make an entry in this field)

    Last Changed By

    Last Changed on

  6. There are two ways of specifying which requests are to be further updated into which data targets:

In the table, in the Object Type column, you can choose Execute InfoPackage, and then one or more InfoPackages to be included in the process chain. Do not select PSA Table or Data Target.

During the chain run, all requests are then updated that were loaded with the specified InfoPackages into the PSA in the chain. Data targets and PSA tables are stored in the InfoPackages.

The process updates the data from these requests into all data targets selected in the InfoPackage. Per InfoPackage variant, there can therefore be a maximum of one PSA process in order to update all data targets of the InfoPackage.

Select PSA Table and Data Target. You can also choose Request as the Object Type in the table, and then one or more requests.

As a result, only the selected requests are updated from the specified PSA table into the specified data target.

Note

Only use this setting when calling up the process for the first time. Afterwards, the request is already in the data target and must be deleted before updating again. This setting cannot be transported either, as the requests numbers are local to the system, and the specified request does not exist in the target system.

  1. Save your entries and go back. The Process Chain Maintenance Planning View screen appears.
Result

You have inserted the Read PSA and Update Data Target application process into the process chain.
