Transferring a BW Test and Demo Scenario Using Database StorageLocate this document in the navigation structure

Besides using a file system transfer, you can also transfer the objects and data of a BW test and demo scenario by storing them on the database of the BW system. This option allows you to save BW objects (and their data) in a specific state in SDATA-specific storage on the database.

When configuring the source definition of the transfer path, choose Storage on Database and specify a variant, which you can use to store and access the scenario on the database. Variants allow you to store different backups, which you can open - even if the BW objects and data are no longer available in the BW storage.

In other words, database storage enables you to freeze the states of BW objects and data and make these states available for specific tests and demos whenever required. You can also reset scenarios to a previously saved state, if necessary.

In the Start Transfer step, you can make settings on the Execution Settings tab page on the right side of the screen in order to stipulate that the (meta) information written by SDATA is written to a transport request. You can then use the connected transport system for the transfer. If you do not use a transport request, you will have to transfer the data to target manually using binary export.
