Use

Analysis Process Designer is a workbench with an intuitive, graphical user interface for creating, executing and monitoring analysis processes. The analysis process is primarily based on data consolidated in the Data Warehouse and contained in InfoProviders.

Note

If you are using a SAP HANA database, we recommend using the SAP HANA analysis process instead of Analysis Process Designer. The process is then performed exclusively in SAP HANA, thus improving performance. More information: SAP HANACreating an Analysis Process

The data can be merged from a number of sources, changed step-by-step using different transformation methods, and displayed in new views. The results of the analysis are then stored in an InfoProvider or in a CRM system for example. They can then be used for all decision and application processes. Analysis Process Designer is used particularly in closed-loop scenarios.

As data can be loaded rapidly into the system using analysis processes, Analysis Process Designer is particularly suited to performing ad-hoc analysis.

The transformation methods offer basic operations such as filter, join, or formulas, as well as advanced data mining methods. The data mining methods help you to explore and identify meaningful relationships in your data.

More information: Data Mining.

Examples of analysis processes include calculating ABC classes and determining frequency distributions or scoring information.

You can use queries, database tables, files and InfoProviders as data sources in the analysis process to help you perform ad hoc analyses. You can also store the results of the analysis directly in a file. Check the data quality of the sources you use, as these sources will probably not have been included in the ETL process of the Data Warehouse.

Features

You can create analysis processes by dragging and dropping elements on a graphical user interface. Data from various data sources in the BW system can be combined, transformed and prepared for analysis in a number of individual steps. This means the data can be saved again in data targets in the BW system, in the BW Accelerator, in a CRM system or in a file. You can do this by using a range of

.

There are various additional functions to help you model and execute analysis processes as well as interpret the analysis result. See Checking Data.

The following graphic shows the different steps in Analysis Process Designer:

First select the data target that contains the required data. The data is prepared and transformed. This transformed data is saved in a BW object or a different system. You can analyze the data by displaying it in a query in Business Explorer.

More information: Modeling an Analysis Process.

Use in Process Chains

There is a separate process type for executing analysis processes.

Versioning

Analysis processes are integrated into the versioning concept (active, inactive version, content version and delivery).

Transport Connection

Analysis processes as TLOGO objects are connected to the BW transport system. More information: Transporting BW Objects.
