Recommendations for Modeling InfoCubesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use
  • Define lots of small dimensions rather than a few large ones.

  • The size of the dimension tables should account for less than 10% of the fact table.

  • If the size of the dimension table is more than 10% of the fact table, mark large dimension as line item dimensions.

  • The query performance will be better if you ensure that the data is balanced rather than creating dimensions according to business criteria.

  • For reporting and analysis, we recommend creating a MultiProvider for every InfoCube. This ensures that no modifications have to be made to the query if the InfoCube is changed.

  • If an InfoCube contains non-cumulative key figures, see the performance tips.
