Make the settings in BW described below for each SAP source system you want to connect to the BW system in order to transfer data.

Settings for Background Users
Background Users in BW
The background user in BW is used for communication with the BW source systems, for the extraction of data, and for background processes in BW.
In the Implementation Guide (IMG), under
, create the background user for background processes in BW and assign the profile S_BI-WHM_RFC to the user.Make sure that the background user in BW is used as the default setting when creating the source system. Check that the background user is entered in the Data Warehousing under BW User for ALE.
in the fieldProposal for Background Users in the Source System
The background user in the source system is used for communication with BW and for the extraction of data.
In the Implementation Guide (IMG), under
, enter a suggestion for the name of the background user in the source system. The name that you enter here is displayed by default as the background user in the dialog for creating the source system. This name is also used to generate the user (if it does not already exist) when creating the source system. If a suitable user with the profile S_BI-WX_RFC exists in the source system, enter this user here.
If the source system you are using is also a BW system, SAP recommends that you create the background user for BW and the background user for the (BW) source system completely separately.
You can use the same user in both roles for the Myself extraction. In this case, we recommend that you also assign the profile S_BI-WX_RFC to the background user in BW.
Settings for the System Change Option
As a rule, system changes are not permitted in productive systems. Connecting a system as a source system to a BW system or connecting a BW system to a new source system will, however, mean changes as far as the system change option is concerned. Make the following settings in the BW system to ensure that the following changes are valid in the relevant clients of the systems when connecting the source system.
Cross-client Customizing and repository changes
In the Implementation Guide under
, select the relevant client and select .Choose the entry Changes to Repository and Cross-Client Customizing Permitted in the field Changes to Cross-Client Objects.
