Use

Make the settings described below once for each SAP source system you want to connect to a BW system in order to transfer data.

IMG Settings for Connecting to a BW System

In the Implementation Guide (IMG) under Start of the navigation path SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step Application Server Next navigation step IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) Next navigation step Basic Settings End of the navigation path make the following settings:

Settings for the System Change Option

As a rule, system changes are not permitted in productive systems. Connecting a system as a source system to a BW system or connecting a BW system to a new source system will, however, mean changes as far as the system change option is concerned. Make the following settings in the source system to ensure that the following changes are valid in the relevant clients of the systems when connecting the source system.

  • Cross-client Customizing and repository changes

In the implemenation guide, under Start of the navigation path SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step Application Server Next navigation step IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Logical Systems Next navigation step Assign Logical System to Client End of the navigation path, select the relevant client and choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Detail End of the navigation path.

In the Cross-Client Object Changes field, choose the Changes to Repository and Cross-Client Customizing Allowed option.

  • Changes to the software components Local Developments ( LOCAL) and SAP NetWeaver BW ( SAP_BW)

In the Transport Organizer Tools (Transaction SE03) choose Start of the navigation path Administration Next navigation step Set System Change Option End of the navigation path and then Execute. In the next screen mark the software components LOCAL and SAP_BW as changeable.

  • Changes to the customer name range.

In the Transport Organizer Tools (Transaction SE03) choose Start of the navigation path Administration Next navigation step Set System Change Option End of the navigation path and then Execute. In the next screen mark the customer namespace as changeable.

  • Changes in the BW namespaces with prefix /BI0/ (SAP namespace) and /BIC/ (customer namespace)

In the Transport Organizer Tools (Transaction SE03) choose Start of the navigation path Administration Next navigation step Set System Change Option End of the navigation path and then Execute. On the next screen, mark the BW namespaces with the prefixes /BI0/ and /BIC/ as changeable.

Determining the server name

When you connect an SAP source system to a BW system, you specify the server name that should be used for the source system connection. To get the server name, choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step Monitor Next navigation step System Monitoring Next navigation step Servers End of the navigation path. The server name is displayed as follows: Server_<SAPSID>_<instanceno.>, e.g. pswd090_IDF_90
