You can make various settings for your query in the Query Properties dialog box.
The Query Properties dialog box is divided into various tab pages, each of which contains different settings.
Tab Page: General
Description
You can enter or change the query description here.
You canuse text variables in the description.
You can also enter the query description when saving the query.
Technical Name
Displays the technical name of the query.
InfoProvider
Displays the technical name of the InfoProvider that the query is based on.
Key Date
Every query has a key date. For time-dependent data, the key date determines the time that the data is selected for. The default value for the key date is the date when the query is executed: <today>.
If you select 01/01/1999 for example, the system reads time-dependent data for 01/01/1999.
You can also select a variable key date:
To be able to do this, you might need to know the technical names and descriptions of the variables. Choose Display Key/Text to show the key.
If you want to create a new variable, choose Create New Variable.
The Variables Editor appears, where you cancreate a new variable.
If you want to change a variable, select it and choose Edit Variable from the context menu.
The Variables Editor appears, and you can change the variable.
The key date only applies to time-dependent master data.
Last Changed By
Displays the owner of the query, the person who last changed it, and the date and time when the query was last changed.
Tab Page: Variable Sequence
Displays any entry variables contained in the query. You can use the two arrow buttons to set the sequence where the variables appear on the variables screen when the query is executed.

Display Options
You can make the following settings:
The setting is useful in BEx Analyzer and is therefore active in the default setting.
The formatting for the query underlines the type of data contained in a cell and highlights the structure of the delivered results. The position and size of the cell area in the analysis grid change when the query is refreshed. The Adjust Formatting After Refreshing function guarantees that the format is adjusted when the updated query data is refreshed.
You can deactivate the formatting adjustment function, for example if you want to display the data more quickly, or if you are using a workbook that has its own format template.

You can specify whether to display identical key values more than once in the query. The Hide Repeated Key Values setting is active in the default setting. This means that only the first key value is displayed for each characteristic, while other identical key values are hidden.
The key value is the value that the characteristic is presented with. This can be the characteristic description or the characteristic key for example. You can specify how the characteristic is presented by usingcharacteristic properties.
In the following example, the Hide Repeated Key Values setting is activated:

Key figures can have scaling factors and units or currencies. Units or currencies are displayed for every key figure, but not the scaling factors. If you activate the Display Scaling Factors for Key Figures setting, an additional header row is added to the row or column header in the query. This additional header row contains information about the scaling factor and the unit or currency, as long as it is consistent (for example EUR 1,000).
This setting is normally deactivated.
In the example below, the Hide Repeated Key Values and Display Scaling Factors for Key Figures settings are activated:

Document Links
For metadata, master data, and InfoProvider data for a query, you can display links todocuments that you have created for these objects. If documents exist for these objects, the icon appears next to them. You can choose this icon to navigate to where the document is displayed on the Web.
Select the appropriate setting so that the document links for the required document class are displayed. The document classes are based on the various categories of BW objects: InfoProvider data, metadata and master data. SeeDocument Classes.
Note that the setting made to display the document links when using the query as a data provider in Web applications is not evaluated. You need to make this setting again for theAnalysis Web item. If the query is used in BEx Analyzer, the system uses the settings you have made here.

Tab Page: Rows/Columns
Result Position
This allows you to specify where the result will be displayed.
In the default setting, the results are displayed at the bottom right.
Suppress Zeros
You can use this setting to specify whether columns or rows containing zeros are to be displayed.
You have the following options:
Under Effect on, you specify whether suppression of zeros should be applied to rows and columns, only to rows, or only to columns.

+/- Sign Display
This allows you to specify how the minus sign (-) is displayed. You have the following options for displaying negative values:

Query properties Data Integrity and Near-Line Storage were set in the back end prior to Release SAP NetWeaver 7.3, but now need to be set in BEx Query Designer. If you have upgraded from BW 3.5 to BW 7.3, you now have to upgrade your front end to Release SAP GUI 7.10 Patch 5 to be able to work with these settings.
The same applies if you have upgraded form BW 7.0 to BW 7.3 and still used Query Designer (SAP BW 3.x) in Release 7.0 .
Release for External Access
External reporting tools use queries as their data source. This allows you to determine whether and how the query is accessed.
If you want to release this query as the data source for external reporting tools that communicate via interface OLE DB for OLAP, select By OLE DB for OLAP.
Queries that contain formulas with the operators %RT, %CT, %GT, SUMRT, SUMCT, SUMGT, and LEAF cannot be released for OLE DB for OLAP. These operators depend on how the list is displayed in BEx Analyzer. The formulas return unexpected values if using OLE DB for OLAP or MDX. The required result can be achieved using constant selection. More information:Constant Selection

You can release an existing query for external access as an easy query. Easy queries are static queries without formatting settings. You can use these as SOAP services.
To generate the query as an easy query, select By Easy Query.
In the BW system, you can manage easy queries using Easy Query Manager (transaction EQMANAGER).

Data Integrity
Here, you can select how recent the data for an InfoProvider is to be when displayed. In an InfoCube, the system can read data with different request statuses. The following request statuses exist:
You can either select a fixed requests status or define a variable.

Near-Line Storage
If the query is based on an InfoProvider that data has already been stored for in a near-line storage, you can use this option to stipulate that the stored data is read and displayed when the query is run.

Tab Page: Planning
Start Query in Change Mode
This allows you to decide whether to start the query in change mode or in display mode.
For queries that are not input ready, the Start Query in Change Mode checkbox is always inactive and cannot be changed. For input ready queries, this checkbox is active in the default setting. Queries are input ready as soon as they contain a structural component that has one of the following properties:
For input-ready queries that are started in display mode, the user has the option at runtime of activating the input ready field to use the query for manually entering planning data or executing planning functions. This ensures that users can use the query in planning applications without locking other users out.

Calculate Inverse Formulas
Inverse formulas are used to recalculate input-ready formulas in planning applications. You can define here how the system should start calculating inverse formulas.
Select the Symmetrical Calculation Mode for Inverse Formulas checkbox. At query runtime, the system calculates inverse formulas if at least one element in an input-ready formula has been fixed or changed manually.
In the default setting, the Symmetrical Calculation Mode for Inverse Formulas checkbox is not selected. At query runtime, the system calculates inverse formulas if at least one value in an input-ready formula has been fixed or changed manually.

To call the Query Properties dialog box for a query, choose Query → Properties in the Query Designer menu bar. The Query Propertiesdialog box for the query appears in the Properties screen area. By choosing Display/Change, you can specify whether the query properties can be changed. To save your settings, choose Save.
