Configuring the ATC on the Central SystemLocate this document in the navigation structure

After you have set up the RFC destinations needed by the ATC, you can configure the ATC on the master system.

Here is how to use transaction ATC to finish setting up the ATC on the master quality-checking system:

  1. At the ATC master system, start transaction ATC on the client on which you usually work.

The ATC is client-independent; no particular client is required.

  2. In the navigation pane, open ATC Administration > Setup > Configure ATC.

  3. Fill out the fields on the ATC: Change Setting screen as shown in this table. The F1 help in transaction ATC also provides instructions for you.

    Field

    Setting

    Code InspectorGlobal Check Variant

Enter the name of the Code Inspector check variant that should be used in central ATC check runs that are started on this system.

The ATC runs in Code-Inspector compatibility mode. This means that you can re-use your existing Code Inspector check variant to tell the ATC what checks to perform and what priorities to assign to messages.

Exemptions Do You Want to Enable ATC Exemptions in the System?

Leave this field set to the default Yes unless you are not going to do ATC central checking.

    Exemptions

    For Which Kind of Results?

You can leave this field set to the default value. The F1 Help provides more information on your choices.

    Master System System-ID

Enter system-ID of the master system.

    RFC-Destinations

Leave empty on the master system.

    Transport Tool Integration

The Transport Settings field reports on the Global Customizing settings in transaction SE03.

If SE03 allows checking of objects in transports, then you can have the ATC check the objects in transport requests. The ATC checks the objects when a transport request is released.

In this way, you can establish a quality-gate check for objects before they leave your development systems.

Set the ATC policy in Behavior on Release. See also the F1 help.

  4. Save the configuration settings.

  5. Choose ATC Administration > Setup > Schedule E-Mail Jobs.

This activity schedules a background job that does the following:

    • Lets developers know whether an exemption request was approved or denied

    • Lets approvers know when exemption requests for their attention arrive.

Users must ask for these e-mail services.

Choose the settings you wish to make and click on the Adjust Job Scheduling button to schedule or unschedule the e-mail job. For more information, click on the i-info button.

  6. If you are planning to use exemptions, then you must also maintain the list of approvers. These are the users who are authorized to approve or deny requests for exemptions from ATC findings (user role SAP_SATC_QE).

Choose ATC Administration > Exemptions > Maintain Approvers. On the following screen, you can enter the user IDs of approver-users. The display shows whether each user has the required authorizations.

Result: You have done the basic configuration of the ATC on the central system. Continue to registering namespaces with the ATC at the master system and scheduling central ATC quality checking.
