Prerequisites

A file exists that has been saved in *.csv or *.asc format. 

Procedure

Create Source System

...

       1.      Choose Source Systems in the tree on the left.

       2.      Right mouse click the Source systems node on the right and choose Create.

       3.      Select FileSystem, manual meta data, data using file interface.

       4.      Choose Enter.

       5.      Enter a name and a description for the source system.

       6.      Choose Enter.

Creating the InfoPackage

Caution

Difficulties are sometimes encountered when uploading dates. The system interprets dates from flat files in the user-defined format. Therefore it is essential that you change your user settings to fit the date format in the flat file. To do so, choose System  ®  User profile  ®  Own data  ®  Defaults and select the relevant date format. For more details, see SAP notes 161506, 157643, and 141298.

The following is a guide to the entries you need to make in the InfoPackage for Excel files. For detailed information about the individual steps, see Maintaining InfoPackages.

       1.      Click on InfoSources in the tree on the left.

       2.      Navigate down the InfoSource tree until you can right mouse click the source system you created earlier.

       3.      Choose Create InfoPackage.

       4.      Enter a description, select the DataSource and choose Save.

       5.      You are now in the Scheduler: Maintain InfoPackage screen.

       6.      Make the following settings in the tabstrips:

 

External data

External data parameters

Processing

Data Targets

Update Parameters

Schedule Tab

Radio buttons

Client workstation

 

Control file: No

 

File type: CSV file

 

PSA and then into data targets (packet by packet)

Update in all data targets for which update rules exist

Full update

 

Always update data even if no master data exists for the data

Instant loading of data online

Checkbox

 

Currency conversion for external systems

To check the data separator, open the .csv file in Notepad.
