
In a federated PI landscape, you have the option to use one central System Landscape Directory (SLD).

This procedure is valid for dual usage type installation as well as for Advanced Adapter Engine Extended.

This section provides a summary of the configuration steps to set up a central SLD.
For reasons of simplicity, we assume that you have a federated PI landscape with one central PI instance (SAP system ID <CEN>) and one local PI instance (SAP system ID <LOC>).
Typically, you have more than one local PI instances.
When you use a central SLD, you must not register multiple systems with the same system ID.
Configuration Tasks in the SLD of the Central PI Instance (Dual Usage Type and AEX)
Log on to the SLD and choose .
Choose Add .
Keep the selection Remote and select Bidirectional .
Choose Next .
On the following pages of the wizard, enter the following data:
Under Source SLD , enter the data (URL, user, password) of the local system ( <LOC>).
Keep the selection under Source Namespace .
Under Local SLD , enter the data (URL, user, password) of the central system ( <CEN>).
After you have entered the date, choose Finish .

Create the following users in the central SLD:
PIDIR<LOC>
PIREP<LOC>
PIIS<LOC>
PIRWB<LOC>
PIAF<LOC>
Here, <LOC> is the system ID of a connected local system. Create these users for each connected system.

Logon to SAP NetWeaver Administrator and choose .
Change the destinations SLD_Client and SLD_DataSuplier to target at the central SLD.

To send data to the central SLD, choose and thereafter select Collect and Send Data (optional).
Configuration Tasks on the Local PI Instance (Only Dual Usage Type)
You need to change SLD-relevant destinations.
In the SAP system of the Integration Server of the local PI instance, choose transaction SM59.
Go to .
On the Technical Settings tab page maintain Gateway Host and Gateway Service in a way that the central SLD is specified as target.
In the SAP system of the Integration Server of the local PI instance, choose transaction SLDAPICUST.
Select Connection Parameter Entered Here (check box).
Maintain Host Name , Port , User , and Password in a way that the central SLD is specified as target.
You need to change settings in the Exchange Profile.
On the PI start page, choose Administration .
Choose Exchange Profile .
Open folder Connections .
Change the following profile parameters to point to the central SLD, that means, as Value enter the full qualified host name of the central SLD:

You need to change settings in the Java system properties.
Logon to SAP NetWeaver Administrator and choose .
Open the Services tab.
Select service XPI Service: AII Config Service.
Change the following properties to point to the central SLD:
