A printer group (PG) is a set of printers which is to be distributed to one or more target system groups (TSG). Printers cannot be distributed to target systems (TS) directly. They must be a member of a printer group.

You can

  • Create empty printer groups and add members later on

  • Add members directly when creating the printer group

  • Remove members from a printer group as described in section Changing Printer Groups below.

You cannot add a printer to more than one printer group.

Procedure

In the PAL Object List select Printer Group from the dropdown menu.

Choose Create. The Create Printer Group dialog box appears.

Enter a name and description for the printer group.

  • If you want to create an empty printer group, click OK. A subscreen appears with two tab pages. To save the empty printer group, click Save on the Details tab page.

  • If you want to add printers immediately, select the printers from the list in the dialog box containing all printers defined in the system. You can also use the filter function to search for special printers. To select more than one printer, press SHIFT while clicking on the printers in the list.

When you have added the printers, click OK. Choose the Members tab page on the subscreen to check if the printers have been added correctly. Afterwards, choose the Details tab page and click Save.

Add a PAL Printer to a Printer Group

If you want to add printers to an existing printer group, choose the printer group from the PAL object list and select the Members tab strip, and press Add. Proceed as described above.

Remove a Printer from a Printer Group

If you want to remove printers from a printer group, choose the printer group from the PAL object list and select the Members tab strip. Choose the printers and click Remove. You will receive the following system message:

Selected printer(s) will be removed from <NAME>. Do you want to proceed?

Choose Yes.

The printer group is saved when the following message appears: Operation completed successfully.
