Enabling Output Devices for Printer Status Feedback
To ensure that printer status feedback works in PAL, the associated output devices need special configuration.
Go to transaction SPAD and make sure that the following settings are correct:
The content of the field Host printer
must match the name of the output device as it is defined to the Windows machine on which SAPSprint is running. Otherwise SAPSprint will not be able to find the output device and cannot retrieve its status. If it is connected to the SAPSprint hosting machine via a print server, make sure you specify this server as well (like \\servername\printername).
The content of the field Destination host
must match the network host name or the IP address of the machine that hosts SAPSprint. Make sure that this machine is visible from the machine on which IGS is running (see Fig. 1).

Fig.1 Access Method S
The printer must be connected via TCP/IP port to the machine that hosts SAPSprint (see Fig. 2).

Figure 2:
The content of the field IP Address/Host Name
must match the network host name or IP address of the output device.
The machine on which IGS is running must be able to see this printer under the specified IP address or host name.
The content of the field Community Name
must be public
.
The content of field Version
must be 1.
The content of field Device Index
is usually 1. In some cases (multi-function devices like combined fax, printing and copy devices) the printer might be represented with a different device index. Refer to the documentation of the printer model provided by the manufacturer for details.
