Object documentationAccess Method E Printing

Prerequisites

For defining PAL Printers with access method E, you need knowledge about integration of external output management systems.

For more information, see Integrating the Spool System into an External Output Management System.

Prerequisites

A Logical OMS (LOMS) must exist in the system of PAL landscape in which the corresponding output device is located. If you create a PAL Printer from the Central System, the LOMS must exist there. If you retrieve the output device from a Target System, the LOMS must exist in this Target System.

A LOMS definition contains a tasking target which is either logical or a real server used for sending commands to the external OMS. When you create a PAL Printer with access method E, this server is used for the spool server of the PAL Printer. Therefore this tasking target must exist. If it is a real server, the tasking target must be active and also host a spool work process.

Note Note

You cannot install LOMS definitions, ROMS definitions or OMS command sets in PAL. PAL cannot verify that the installations are correct. PAL only checks if the LOMS definition exists and if the tasking target of this LOMS is available as a spool server.

End of the note.
