You can use short messages to send important information to the users of an SAP system. You can either send the message to all users on all application servers or only to users that are logged on to a particular application server.
A message is only displayed to the recipient once a day. Messages are displayed to users in the following ways:
When a user logs on to the system
As soon as the message is sent (if a user is already logged on)
A user must actively acknowledge a system message before continuing work.
You can use the System Messages function to carry out the following tasks:
Create Message |
You can post as many messages as you wish. Messages can be more than one line long. This is described in detail in Creating and Sending System Messages. |
Display Message |
Choose or to display active messages or inactive, archived messages (messages that are available in the database even though they have expired). |
Change Message |
You can alter the text and expiration date of any message (see Creating and Sending System Messages). |
Delete Message |
You can delete an individual message or all messages. To delete a specific message, position the cursor on it and choose (Delete). You can also choose to do this, or to delete all system messages. Caution Deleted messages are then removed from the database, which means they are no longer kept with the archived messages. End of the caution. |
Create Message from Program |
Normally, you create system messages interactively. However, it is also possible to do this from a program. More information: Creating a System Message Under Program Control. |
