Access Method C Printing
Output devices using access method C must have an AIX or Windows NT spool server assigned. The PAL Printer is accessed from the spool server by a direct Operating System (OS) API call.
The assigned spool server must know the PAL Printer by the name defined in transaction SPAD.
The Target System(s) must be on release SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 01.
Example In Fig. 1 an output device with name 'TEST35' must be defined to machine ldcil1a on OS level.

During the Distribution Process PAL will make sure that a Windows NT or an AIX Spool Server will be selected in the Target System which the PAL Printer will be distributed to. Note:
Caution
PAL can not make sure that the selected spool server knows the access method C PAL Printer on OS level. It is likely that PAL will select the wrong spool server.
Therefore you will receive a system warning before a distribution of an access method C (and access method L) PAL Printer takes place:
When you select OK
, PAL starts searching for a spool server in the Target System that matches the spool server of the Central System (Operating System wise).
When this action fails, PAL tries to assign any WindowsNT or AIX Spool Server.
If neither a WindowsNT nor an AIX Spool Server can be found in a particular Target System, the distribution is not possible.
Note
It might be necessary to change the spool server of the PAL Printer in the Target System after the distribution. See chapter PAL Printer Spool Server Change for details.
