The BRFplus user interface (UI) consists of a workbench that enables you to maintain your business rules. You can create, modify and delete objects. The workbench provides access to all the BRFplus objects available in a system or a client.

The BRFplus workbench consists of two main panels, the Navigation Panel and the Object Manager panel. The workbench also provides a couple of general features through the Menu Bar. The Status Bar shows the back end system or client on which you are currently working.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

Menu Bar

The Menu Bar consists of the following:

  • General

Using this operation, you can exit the workbench.

  • Workbench

You can perform workbench operations such as create an application, show the current objects in the repository and add the current object to the repository.

  • Tools

    • Application Cleanup

You can delete the unused expressions and data objects from the application using the application cleanup tool.

    • Simulation

You can provide input for the data objects and process them using the simulation tool to get results. Simulation is similar to function module testing.

    • Trace

You can access information that is logged in while processing a function or an expression. The information generated is also helpful for legal reasons.

    • WebService Generation

A third party user can process the rules defined in BRFplus using the WebService Generation tool.

    • XML Import and XML Export

You can transport active versions of the BRFplus objects from one system to another (provided both systems support BRFplus).

Navigation Panel

You can browse through the BRFplus object repository using the Navigation Panel.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

You can view BRFplus objects in the Navigation Panel in two different views:

  • Repository

You can access all objects of an application from the repository.

  • Favorites and Recently Used

You can easily add objects from the repository or the recently used objects to your favorites.

Object Manager

The Object Manager panel is the main work area. You can display and edit objects.

Status Bar

The Status Bar provides details on the back end system or the client in which you are working.
