Function documentationFile Transfer

File transfer is an application on the SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC) Web user interface (Web UI). You use file transfer to download and upload files, which contain data from SAP SNC applications, such as purchase order confirmations, to be able to process them offline. You use file transfer in the supplier collaboration of SAP SNC.

Prerequisites

For more information, see Settings for File Transfer.

Features

File Transfer Files

The files that you can download and upload in the file transfer application are Comma Separated Values (CSV) files. The system creates the files on the basis of data contained in different SAP SNC applications.

In the standard system, you can download and upload files from the following SAP SNC applications:

  • Purchase order worklist

  • Due list for purchasing documents

  • Due list for planned receipts

  • Order forecast monitor

  • SMI monitor

For more information, see Files for File Transfer.

Downloading

You can download files on the Download Center Web screen. To initiate a download, you must first create a download profile. In a download profile, you can set up a background job on the basis of the following:

  • Profile type (the application from which you want to download data)

  • Selection parameters

  • Background schedule

You can specify how you want to deliver the file to a user. You can deliver files by the following means:

  • The user must pick up the files on the Download Center Web screen.

  • The system sends a download file notification e-mail to the user, which contains the file in the form of an attachment.

  • The system sends a download file notification e-mail to the user, which contains a link that navigates you to the Download History Web screen.

For more information, see Download Profile.

Uploading

After processing a downloaded file offline, you can upload the modifications back into the system. The system updates the data in the corresponding SAP SNC application with the values that you have changed while processing the data offline. To be able to upload files, you must first create an upload profile. Once you have an existing profile, you can upload files in the following way:

  • You load it up manually on the Upload Center Web screen.

  • You send an e-mail that contains the modified file. You can create a new e-mail with the modified file, or you can reply to the download file notification e-mail.

    Note Note

To make sure that the system can upload a file sent by e-mail, you must enter the profile number of the upload profile in square brackets into the e-mail subject line. Ensure that the profile number is within the first 50 characters of the subject line.

    End of the note.

For more information, see Upload Profile.

Web Screens Views

For every file transfer web screen, there is a Power User view and an External User view.

The Power User view is designed for a user who is assigned to the leading business partner. The web screens display data that belongs to the leading business partner's external business partners. The External User view is designed for a user who is assigned to an external business partner. The web screens display data that belongs to the business partner of the logged-on user.

File Transfer E-Mails

File Transfer uses different download file notification e-mails to deliver a downloaded file to a user. File transfer delivers standard e-mail text templates for the different download file notification e-mails. If you want to change the template, you can create your own download file notification e-mail text.

For more information, see Template for File Transfer E-Mails and Creating File Transfer E-Mails.

History

You can view the history of download and upload profiles on the Download History and Upload History Web screens. The history Web screens display the download and upload files that you have previously generated or processed.

Archiving

You can archive a download or upload profile if it is no longer active.

For more information see, Archiving Download Profiles and Archiving Upload Profiles.
