Processing of Remaining Quantities In
SAP Supply Network Collaboration
(SAP SNC), the Transport Load Builder (TLB) tries to build direct TLB shipments from the ship-from location to the ship-to location. To optimize capacity utilization, the TLB executes shipment sizing, but there may be a remaining quantity.
You can group multiple ship-to or ship-from locations to transportation zones. The TLB can then group the remaining quantities with remaining quantities from other replenishment orders from or to locations in the same transportation zone.
You have carried out the activities described in Use of Transportation Zones
You have specified a
Multiplier for Minimum Loading for Direct Delivery
in the transportation lane master data.
If there is a remaining quantity during shipment sizing, the TLB multiplies the multiplier specified for the transportation lane with the lower limit for capacity utilization of the TLB shipment that you have defined in the TLB profile. This process provides the TLB with a new minimum value.
Consider the following issues:
If the remaining quantity exceeds this value, the TLB carries out shipment downsizing or upsizing and assembles a direct delivery from the ship-from location to the ship-to location.
If the remaining quantity is less than the product of multiplier and lower limit, the TLB then downsizes the shipment quantity.
The TLB plans a direct delivery for the reduced shipment quantity.
The TLB uses the following strategies for the remaining quantity:
Multi-pickup
If the ship-from location is in a transportation zone that you have entered as
Hierarchy for Multi-Pickup
in the TLB service profile, the TLB groups the remaining quantity with the quantities that may exist from other ship-from locations in the same transportation zone into one shipment.
Multi-stop
If the ship-to location is in a transportation zone that you have entered as
Hierarchy for Multi-Stop
in the TLB service profile, the TLB groups the remaining quantity with the quantities that may exist from replenishment orders at other locations in this transportation zone. The delivery address for every partial shipment is the address of the ship-to location.
Cross-docking
If the ship-to location is in a transportation zone that you have entered as
Hierarchy for Cross-Docking (and not as Hierarchy for Multi-Stop)
in the TLB service profile, the TLB groups the remaining quantity with the remaining quantities that may exist from replenishment orders at other locations in this transportation zone. In this case, the delivery address is the address of the transportation zone (as transshipment location).
