In addition to keyboard and screen based input technologies, ITSmobile also provides support for speech-based interfaces for implementing “PickByVoice” applications. By storing the required text modules in the ABAP backend system, you ensure that these are translated and can be used in the respective logon language of the user.

To execute speech supported applications, the following minimum prerequisites are required for the system:

  • SAP Web AS ABAP 640: Kernel Patch 210, Basis Support Package 22

  • NetWeaver 7.0 AS ABAP: Kernel Patch 132, Basis Support Package 15

The prerequisite for the use of the speech support is that the browser used on the mobile device supports speech input and output.

Integration

The generator ITSGENMOBILEXV, style "Mobile Devices with Speech Support" is available for the creation of speech enabled templates. This generator generates an XHTML+Voice template that contains the Java Speech Grammar Format (JSGF V1.0).

Depending on the structure of the screens and screen elements, generated templates may include a combination of three different Speech Dialog Types, which implement the speech control at runtime.

To generate a template for use by a mobile device with speech support, you need to correspondingly adjust the relevant screen.
