You use Self Diagnosis to determine runtime or configuration errors, across SAP Solution Manager components, such as functions and managed systems, by executing alert checks. Alert checks raise alerts and provide diagnosis instructions to solve the problem indicated by them.

The background job, SM:SELFDIAGNOSIS, run daily by default to, executes alert checks only for functions and solutions that are active in Self-Diagnosis settings.

You can also perform an analysis manually, at any time. For example, you can run the daily Self-Diagnosis job, to check whether a problem indicated by alerts in the previous analysis has been resolved.

Self-Diagnosis displays alerts resulting from an analysis, in various levels of detail:

  • SAP Solution Manager Alerts: alerts specific to Solution Manager system.

  • Managed Systems Alerts: Alerts specific to managed systems.

    For example, to check whether your user has authorization to access managed system.
