Procedure documentationEvaluating Analysis Results and Creating Test Plans

Optimize the test scope and generate a test plan.

Procedure

  1. In the results list, select a result data record.

    • You can use Parameters to check the settings that resulted in the result data record you selected.

    • You can display the selected results data record in a new window, with Display Externally.

  2. In the top detail table (Result ID ...), select the view to evaluate.

    • You can choose Start of the navigation path Test Plan Next navigation step Create Test Plan End of the navigation path to generate a test plan from all test cases for the affected executable entities. For more information, see Creating and Editing Test Plans.

    • You can use Start of the navigation path Test Plan Next navigation step Extend Test Plan End of the navigation path to add test cases from the affected executable entities to an existing test plan. The system allows you to extend all test plans for the selected solution and branch.

    • Objects are often assigned to several nodes in the solution documentation, and are in several test plans. With Optimize Test Scope, you can optimize the scope of the test plans to be created, to avoid redundancies, and test as many objects as possible with as little test effort as possible. For more information, see Optimizing the Test Scope.

  3. Select Display Details, to display the executable entities affected, in the lower detail table (Detail ...).

    • Display All Intersections shows the objects of all executable entities affected.

    • Display Intersection shows the objects of the selected executable entity affected. For more information about this display, see Checking the TBOM Contents.

The Display Intersection function is triggered using the multi-purpose pushbutton that is initially used for the Display All Intersection by default.

    • Using Start of the navigation path Additional Columns Next navigation step Display Statistics End of the navigation path, you can display statistical information for the objects of the executable entities (the total number of objects and the number of objects in each classification category).

  4. If too many irrelevant changes, resulting in a disproportionate test effort, are displayed, define a TBOM filter and repeat the analysis.

For more information, see Editing TBOM Filters.
