Background documentationPerforming Imports in System Clusters

Usually, you import transport collections into system clusters using Change Request Management or Quality Gate Management (QGM) and not using Import Queue Web UI. You use Import Queue Web UI only to display import queues of system clusters.

However, in specific situations, you may also need to use Import Queue Web UI on SAP Solution Manager to import transport collections into system clusters:

  • In emergency situations, if functions of Change Request Management or QGM do not work.

  • For transports into additional systems of your transport landscape where transports are not or not yet controlled by Change Request Management or by QGM.

This applies to additional test, training, or sandbox systems, for example, for which process compliance is not as important as for production systems.

These systems can be bundled as separate system clusters, and imports into these systems can be performed in the central CTS server (SAP Solution Manager) using Import Queue Web UI.

  • If you want to add new systems to an existing system landscape and you must therefore add a new cluster to the related cluster landscape.

In this case, you must set up an initial import queue for the new system cluster using Import Queue Web UI.

If you are in such a situation, or if SAP support asks you to do so, you can activate Import Queue Web UI for system clusters.
