Procedure documentationManaging KPI Instances and Data Collectors

In the KPI Maintenance view, you schedule data collectors to automatically collect the KPI data that you use to analyze performance and define benchmarks.

You can schedule the following data collectors in the SAP Solution Manager system:

  • SM_SPP: KPI COLLECTOR: Collects the last KPI value for the KPI definition. Switches to transaction SM37. Make sure you schedule this job so that the system collects the data periodically.

  • SM_SPP: RESULTS COLLECTOR: Collects the KPI values from all KPIs. To collect historical data, schedule this job.

  • SM_SPP: BENCHMARK COLLECTOR: Collects data from all KPIs and sends them to SAP. When you schedule this job, the system displays detailed information about this process. You have to confirm that you want to proceed.

The following status information is available for data collectors:

  • (Green LED icon)

Jobs are scheduled or running without errors.

  • (Yellow LED icon)

At least one job is not yet scheduled.

  • (Red LED icon)

At least one job could not be completed due to errors.

You can activate and deactivate each KPI individually to suit your business needs.

Prerequisites

  • The KPI definition is configured.

  • You have created a KPI instance.

Procedure

Scheduling Data Collection Jobs

Proceed as follows:

  1. In the Data Collectors screen area, select the data collector for which you want to schedule a job.

  2. Choose Schedule Job.

The job is scheduled automatically for the next available date and time. Note that this may be immediately.

Scheduling Data Collection Jobs for a Specific Time

You may sometimes need to set a specific time for a data collection job, for example, to prevent conflicts with other scheduled jobs or to avoid overloading the system by running too many jobs simultaneously.

Proceed as follows:

  1. In the Data Collectors screen area, in the Job Name column, choose a collector. This calls transaction SM37.

  2. Schedule the job to start either at a specific time or after an event is complete, for example, SAP_ARCHIVING_WRITE_FINISHED.

    Note Note

You can also delete a scheduled job in transaction SM37.

    End of the note.
Displaying Data Sent to SAP

    The Maintain Properties dialog opens.

  2. From the Properties drop-down list, choose the property you want to edit.

  3. In the Value field, edit the value as required.
