Function documentationCreation of a Solution

 

The solution is the root of the structure that contains all systems, processes, and solution documentation in a your business. Within a solution, you define the logical component groups, which form the system landscape, and the branches, which form the version contexts in the solution lifecycle. Therefore, the creation of the solution is the first activity.

Prerequisites

You need the authorization (see also Authorization Concept) for creating new solutions. You have this authorization if you see the Create Solution button in the Solution Administration (transaction code SOLADM).

Activities

For the creation of a solution, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the Solution Administration with transaction SOLADM.

  2. Select Create Solution.

    The dialogue Create Solution opens.

  3. Fill out the mandatory fields Name and Technical Name. The Technical Name is a unique name for the solution and cannot be used twice.

  4. Click OK to create the solution.

    The system displays a success message with the name of your new solution. The new solution is visible in the drop-down list and in the table below with a production branch and a maintenance branch. With selecting the solution, the production branch or the maintenance branch, you can display the corresponding tabs like Properties and System Landscape.
