Object documentationIT Requirement

An IT requirement is a document that the solution architect or IT manager uses to analyze a requested feature or function in terms of the budget, the person days required, and the required due date.

An IT requirement can be created directly or based on a business requirement.

When an IT requirement is created, the solution architect or IT manager analyzes it and determines whether the required function or feature can be implemented with the allocated budget, resources, and time scale. If the requested function or feature can be implemented, the IT department accepts the IT requirement and commits itself to implementing the change. Only when both the IT requirement and the business requirement have been committed can the change be carried out.

Once the change has been committed, the IT department creates one or more change documents. The required change document types are created from the scope, added to the Scope assignment block, and linked to tasks.

Structure

The IT requirement consists of header details, which are organized in individual groups, and additional assignment blocks. You can customize which assignment blocks are displayed according to your requirements.

Header Level

In the header details, you specify the general data that is valid for the entire IT requirement. This includes, for example, the following data:

  • General data such as the sold-to party (that is, the requester in the business department), solution architect, and requirement manager

  • Processing data

  • Data for change planning, for example, approval procedure and project

  • Relationships, for example, the corresponding problem and incident

Assignment Blocks

In the assignment blocks, you specify additional data for the IT requirement, for example:

  • Text

In this assignment block, you can enter free text for the requirement manager. You can also define a text template, such as a signature or phone number, which you can enter automatically.

This assignment block is also used to record events such as status changes.

  • Attachments

In this assignment block, you can upload documents from your hard drive or content management system to provide additional information about the business requirement. You can also enter a URL to a document.

  • Solution Documentation

In this assignment block, you can assign and unassign solution documentation elements.

  • Checklist

In this assignment block, you specify a checklist that must be completed before the IT requirement can be committed.

  • Scope

In this assignment block, you specify the change category and the type of the change documents (for example, urgent or normal change). You also specify the reference object, the product or installation for which a change is requested, and the product system and client.

  • Test Management

In this assignment block, you can assign test plans to support the IT requirement.

  • Time Recording

In this assignment block, you can record the amount of time that you have spent working on the IT requirement.
