Customizing Distribution and Customizing Scout Prerequisites

Purpose

Before you use the Customizing Distribution or compare customizing with the Customizing Scout , you must fulfill their technical prerequisites in the systems involved. This process describes how to make the necessary system settings.

Process Flow

Install and set up system landscape

You have installed the SAP Solution Manager.

Assign authorizations
System administrator

The system administrator or project manager must have the following authorizations in the managed systems to be able to make Customizing Distribution settings:

Authorization

Description

Comment

S_USER_AUT

S_USER_GRP

S_USER_PRO

Create user

S_CTS_ADMI

Transport administration

Customizing Distribution only

S_TRANSPORT

Create transport requests

Customizing Distribution only

S_RFCACL

Trusted System connections

Customizing Distribution only

SAP Solution Manager system authorizations:

Authorization

Description

Note

S_CD_SYSAC

System access for comparisons

Customizing Scout only

S_CD_SYST

Set up system landscape

S_RFCACL

Trusted System connections

Customizing Distribution only

Customizer

You have assigned the following authorizations in the managed systems to all persons responsible for Customizing:

Authorization

Description

Note

S_TABU_CLI

S_TABU_DIS

View maintenance

S_TABU_LIN

Row authorization

S_TABU_RFC

Data transfer by RFC

S_BCSETS

Create and activate BC Sets

Customizing Distribution only

All customizers in the SAP Solution Manager system have the following authorizations:

Authorization

Description

Note

S_CD_SYNC

Comparison or Distribution authorization check

S_TABU_RFC

Data transfer by RFC

Customizing Scout only

S_TABU_DIS

S_TABU_CLI

View maintenance

Note Note

You can also use authorization profile S_CUS_CMP in the managed systems. You may have to edit authorization profile S_CUS_CMP in the administered systems if this was not already carried out when SAP Solution Manager was being installed. For more information, see SAP Note 492908.

The Application Consultant role has all the authorizations needed to set up Customizing Distribution in SAP Solution Manager.

End of the note.
Client settings

Customizing Distribution requires all Customizing changes to be automatically included in a transport request. Therefore, set the clients in the managed systems to Record Changes Automatically in transaction SCC4. Set all clients in the managed systems to modifiable in transaction SE06, and make settings in transaction SCC4 to allow changes to cross-client Customizing.

Check Support Package status

For the minimum Support Package status in the source and target systems, see the SAP Solution Manager configuration guide, or the following notes:

  • SAP Note 552457: Prerequisites for Customizing Distribution target systems

  • SAP Note 552494: Prerequisites for Customizing Distribution source systems

Setup RFC connections with the Landscape Management transaction

Create the RFC connections for Customizing Scout or Customizing Distribution in transaction LMDB under Technical Systems.

Follow the detailed instructions in the Landscape Management help.

Customizing Scout

Customizing Distribution

RFC connections required

SM_<system ID>CLNT<client>_READto read data

  • SM_<system ID>CLNT<client>_TRUSTED for interactive access for the Customizing Distribution

  • SM_<System ID>CLNT<client>_BACKto check/display customizing objects which are in an active distribution, and are to be locked

Caution Caution

For the Customizing Scout:

If you have created RFC connections for SAP R/3 3.1I or 4.0, enter them in the table scdtsysrfc with the transaction SE16, because the system does not do so.

End of the caution.
RFC read connection (only for Customizing Scout)
  1. Go to the target system to which you want read access with the Customizing Scout, for a customizing comparison.

  2. Create a user with which you want read access to the target system in the user maintenance transaction (SU01).

  3. Assign the authorization profile S_CUS_CMP to the user. Read SAP Note 492908 to check the authorization profile for completeness, and enhance it if necessary.

  4. If no RFC connection has yet been created, create an RFC connection to the SAP Solution Manager system, with the RFC connection maintenance transaction (SM59).

  5. Save the created user and password in this RFC connection for future read access to the system with the user.

Create Customizing Distribution project (only for Customizing Distribution)
Perform the following steps to create IMG project directly from SAP Solution Manager system using transaction SCDT_IMG_PROJ.
  1. Enter customizing distribution project name and title. The title will be used as title for IMG project and transport request as well.
  2. Select a row and enter IMG project name, system and client and create IMG project. You are taken to IMG project in the managed system. Transports which are also used during customizing must be created for this project in the managed systems.
  3. Create customizing and workbench transports for this project.
  4. If you want to distribute customizing changes after transport change or transport release, create tasks for all customizers in the systems involved, in the transport requests.
  5. If you want to distribute customizing with the Initial Distribution or timed, as system administrator, create tasks for yourself in the transport requests in the systems involved. If you want to Redistribute Customizing after Errors , you must also have a task in the transport requests in the systems involved.

  6. Go Back and your entries will be saved automatically in the SAP Solution Manager system. You can also see the status of the IMG project green.

It is recommended to have identical name for customizing Distribution project and IMG project. You can create IMG project for any number of managed systems just by following the above steps.

Load synchronization objects for SAP components

If you use another component than those of the ERP system, e.g. to compare SAP ERP and SAP MDM, you must load the synchronization objects for these components, to adjust structure differences between SAP ERP and SAP MDM.

Go to the Synchronization group editor and load the synchronization objects by choosing Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Load Object Lists End of the navigation path .

Result

You can now compare customizing in different systems, with the Customizing Scout. You can also now use Customizing Distribution .
