Background documentationPrerequisites for Using the Retrofit Function

Activities

Standard Prerequisites

If you want to use the retrofit function in your system landscape, the following prerequisites need to be fulfilled:

  • You have implemented SAP Note 1468044Information published on SAP site in the managed systems.

  • You have configured the required settings in SAP Solution Manager Configuration under Start of the navigation path Change Control Management Next navigation step Change Request Management Next navigation step Step 2.2 Configure Retrofit End of the navigation path.

  • In SAP Solution Manager Configuration, you have configured the required settings under Start of the navigation path Change Control Management Next navigation step Managed System Setup Next navigation step Step 9.1 Configure Retrofit End of the navigation path.

    Note Note

If you want to use cross-release retrofit, you have activated the Cross-Release Retrofit parameter and you have defined for which systems the cross-release retrofit is to be allowed, under Define System-Specific Retrofit Settings.

    End of the note.
  • The retrofit function is activated in SAP Solution Manager.

For more information about using an RFC trusted/trusting relationship between two SAP systems, see System Users and RFC Destinations with Trusted Systems.

  • Both systems that are to be part of the retrofit scenario are in the same transport management system (TMS) domain or in linked TMS domains.

  • You have activated the cross-system object lock in Customizing under Start of the navigation path SAP Solution Manager Next navigation step Capabilities (Optional) Next navigation step Change Control Management Next navigation step Cross-System Object Lock and Downgrade Protection Next navigation step Set Up Cross-System Object Lock and Activate Downgrade Protection End of the navigation path.

  • You have set up the following RFC connections in SAP Solution Manager, for each working client specified in the logical components used to represent each system landscape, the maintenance landscape, and the new development landscape. This includes the 000 clients of the TMS landscape domain controller systems.

    • SM_<SID>CLNT<...>_TMW

    • SM_<SID>CLNT<...>_TRUSTED

These RFC connections must be established from SAP Solution Manager to the development landscape and from SAP Solution Manager to the maintenance landscape.

    Note Note

Additional RFC connections are created automatically when the retrofit scenario is activated in SAP Solution Manager.

For more information, see SAP Note 1175098Information published on SAP site.

    End of the note.
  • You have been assigned the following authorization objects in both development systems and in the 000 clients of these systems:

    • S_RFC_ADM

    • S_TRANSPORT

    • S_SYS_RWBO

  • You have defined a change control landscape that contains development systems and retrofit systems.

  • You have created transport requests for the retrofit in the retrofit system into which you want to import the changes from the maintenance system.

Additional Prerequisites for Retrofit Without Using the Change Control Management Scenarios

If you want to use the retrofit function without using the Change Control Management scenarios (Change Request Management and Quality Gate Management), the following additional prerequisites need to be fulfilled:

  • In SAP Solution Manager Configuration, you have configured the required settings under Start of the navigation path Change Control Management Next navigation step Managed System Setup Next navigation step Step 9.1 Configure Retrofit End of the navigation path.

  • In SAP Solution Manager Configuration, under Start of the navigation path Change Control Management Next navigation step Change Request Management Next navigation step Step 2.2 Configure Retrofit Next navigation step Define Retrofit Parameters End of the navigation path, you have activated the STANDALONE parameter.

  • You have created a change cycle for the implementation landscape for assigning transport requests that are not yet assigned to a cycle. You do this so that you can use them within the Change Request Management framework.

  • You have created a change cycle for the maintenance landscape, for assigning transport requests that are not yet assigned to a change cycle.

  • You have implemented Business Add-In CTS_EXPORT_FEEDBACK in accordance with SAP Note 2179147Information published on SAP site.
