Procedure documentationImporting Content Packages Using Rapid Content Delivery

 

You use this procedure to import the latest content updates of SAP Solution Manager functions such as Monitoring and Alerting, Guided Procedure Authoring, and Customer Usage Provisioning, using Rapid Content Delivery.

Prerequisites

  • You have maintained an S-user and password in SAP Solution Manager: Configuration work center under Start of the navigation path Basic Configuration Next navigation step System Preparation Next navigation step Set Up Connections to SAP Next navigation step RFC Connectivity End of the navigation path. You have to add the role SAP_SM_SYM_CONF.

    • You have created an SAP-OSS connection as a part of this step.

  • In SICF transaction, you have maintained global settings and HTTP and HTTPS proxy settings, to connect to SAP servers.

    Note Note

    If there are no proxy settings required to connect to the internet, you can ignore this prerequisites.

    If you need to maintain the proxy settings for only the RFC destination SMPAUDWNLD of type HTTP Connections to ABAP System, you can make changes in the destination directly under the header HTTP Proxy Options in the tab Technical Settings

  • In STRUST transaction, you have registered the relevant certificates for the SSL Client SSL Client (Standard) server. For more information on the relevant certificates for the SSL Client SSL (Standard) see 1693915Information published on SAP site

  • The Rapid Content delivery batch job JOBNAME SM: RCD_CHECK_UPDATES must run at least once on the system. The batch job needs to be triggered manually, in case latest downloads or notifications are required. The batch job must run after any note is implemented. For information on the notes to be implemented, see 2144200Information published on SAP site.

  • Once the job SM: RCD_CHECK_UPDATES is successful, do a 'Connection Test' for RFC destination ‘SMPAUDWNLD.Run the transaction sm59 and check if RFC destination SMPAUDWNLD connection works. For RFC destination to work, SSl must be configured. For more information on how to configure SSL, see 510007Information published on SAP site.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to SAP Solution Manager Administration work center.

  2. Choose Infrastructure.

  3. In the Content dropdown, choose Rapid Content Delivery.

  4. In the Rapid Content Delivery window, under the Content Delivery tab page, choose Check Notified Delivery, to check if new content is available for download or import.

  5. The Delivery Version table displays the delivery versions of content packages that are available for download or have already been downloaded.

    By default, the Delivery Version table displays only the last five available delivery versions. If you want to view all available delivery versions, choose All Downloads from the Show dropdown menu, and choose Display.

  6. Select the delivery version to download, and choose Download. The Status Available for Download indicates that the delivery version is available for download, and the status Downloaded indicates that the delivery version has been downloaded.

    Note Note

    To download content automatically, you have to maintain the auto-download settings for Rapid Content Delivery, during SAP Solution Manager Configuration. If maintained, and if updated content is available for download, Rapid Content Delivery provides notifications and downloads the content automatically.

  7. In the Details of Delivery Version table, choose the content to import, and choose Import.

    Details of Delivery Version table displays the download and the import status of each content, the type of contents in the delivery version, the registered version, and the support package level of each content.

    Higher Version Imported status indicates that a higher delivery version of the content has already been imported.

    Note Note

    In the Rapid Content Delivery tool, you can only import delivery versions of content type Customer Usage Provisioning (CUP). To import delivery versions of other content types, choose Launch Application. It launches the application in which you can download the content.

  8. Expand the Processing Information tray to view the latest status of import and download jobs.

    The Logs tab page records information about background jobs, and other details of the download and import status of content packages.
