Function documentationDownload Service

With the download service in SAP Solution Manager 7.2, you can directly fetch the installation archives that you have calculated with the maintenance planner, to update, upgrade, or newly install software in your system landscape.

Prerequisites

  • To execute the Download Service application in SAP Solution Manager, and to download files, the following user roles are relevant:

    • SAP_BC_SDS_CONF_ADMIN: editing the download service configuration

    • SAP_BC_SDS_CONF_DISPLAY: displaying the download service configuration

    • SAP_BC_SDS_TASK_DISPLAY: displaying a download task

    • SAP_BC_SDS_TASK_USER: editing and running a download service task

  • You have created a maintenance transaction in the maintenance planner in SAP Support Portal. For more information, see http://help.sap.com/maintenanceplannerInformation published on SAP site.

  • You can download the files for any transaction that has an XML file. The transaction status is not relevant.

  • You have an s-user in SAP Support Portal.

Activities

  1. Choose Download Service from the launchpad of SAP Solution Manager 7.2 (transaction SM_WORKCENTER).

  2. Choose Settings and check your download settings:

    1. Enter your s-user and password for SAP Support Portal.

    2. Define the logical path of the target directory to which the archive is to be saved.

You can also define the block size of the selected folder.

    3. Select Optimized download of required files (files that are already available in the target directory are skipped), or Force download of all files (all files in the archive are downloaded).

    4. Under ARFC Process, define the allowed number of concurrent downloads.

  3. Enter the ID of the transaction that you created in the maintenance planner and choose Execute.

  4. The system downloads the archive and displays technical and administrative information.

  5. Under Logs, you can see the messages for recent downloads.

You can now proceed with the implementation of the files using the installation and update tools. For more information, see Implementing Landscape Changes and Software Logistics Toolset at http://service.sap.com/sltoolsetInformation published on SAP site.
