Object documentationApplication Operations Dashboard – Performance Overview

The dashboards for the Operations category in the Dashboard Builder provide a quick overview of the availability and performance of your managed systems.

One such dashboard is the Performance Overview, which displays the performance of managed systems during selected intervals in two tiles. When configuring these tiles, you can adjust both the reference period for the performance values and the systems whose performance is to be displayed according to your requirements. The Integration section below tells you how to perform the configuration.

The data for this dashboard comes from System Monitoring reporting (see Technical Information about System & Application Monitoring Reporting ). The Dialog Response Time event exists there at instance level and has the status Green (OK), Yellow (warning), or Red (error), depending on the measured values of the corresponding metrics. For the tiles displayed, the number of these events for each status is determined for the selected system and the selected time interval and each status is assigned a percentage value.

Example Example

A value of 90 percent Green for a system therefore means that for the period displayed, the Dialog Response Time event has the status Green for 90 percent of all measured values for the system instances.

End of the example.

You can display and change the metrics associated with the Dialog Response Time in SAP Solution Manager Configuration (transaction SOLMAN_SETUP). In the scenario Start of the navigation path Operations Next navigation step System Monitoring End of the navigation path, choose the Template Maintenance step and choose the correct template for the technical instance, depending on the type of managed system. The event is located in Expert Mode in the Metrics, Events, Alert Hierarchy.

The following tiles exist in the dashboard:

  • System Performance Details, which displays the performance of the selected ABAP systems in a stacked bar chart. The tile contains a generic analytics application as a detailed view, with which you can specify the values to be displayed in the rows, columns, and drilldowns and which filters are to be set.

  • System Performance Overview, in which a mean value is calculated from the values mentioned above and, based on these mean values, a pie chart is output, which provides an impression of the average performance of your managed systems at a glance.

Note Note

Choose the KPI pushbutton to display more detailed information about the KPIs displayed.

End of the note.

The dashboard is displayed in the Application Operations Dashboards in the Dashboard Builder.

Integration

The tiles delivered are to be seen as templates that you can configure to suit your requirements. You perform this configuration at tile level as follows:

  1. Call the tile and choose the configuration pushbutton.

  2. By default, the performance values for all systems and times for which values exist in BW are displayed. Create two filters:

    • To set a filter for the systems whose performance values are to be displayed, open the context menu of the System ID field, choose Start of the navigation path Filter Next navigation step Select Filter Value End of the navigation path and select the required systems.

    • To set a filter for the period for which the performance values are to be displayed, you can choose between a number of different date fields for which you set a filter as described above. These are based on the required granularity Calendar Day (for daily values), Calendar Year/Week (for weekly values), or Calendar Year/Month (for monthly values).

  3. Save your settings.
