 Configuration of Test Management

 

Some parts of the setup of test management take place in SAP Solution Manager Configuration. It is completed by several other activities that are carried out on demand.

Activities

  1. Start the SAP Solution Manager Configuration work center (transaction SOLMAN_SETUP) and follow the guided procedures under Test Management.

    This is available for Component-Based Test Automation and Business Process Change Analyzer.

  2. In the Administration view of the Test Management work center, you can make further basic settings. For more information, see Administration.

Setting Up the Test Tool

Before you can create test configurations for automated test cases, you need to set up the required test tools. In SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS 01, CBTA and external test tools are supported.

  1. In the Administration view of the Test management work center, choose Test Tool Attributes Definition.

    In the External Tool Attributes Overview screen, choose Change .

  2. Check and maintain the attributes which a test tool can supply to SAP for a test script, according to the documentation provided by the third-party test tool vendor.

    Note that you cannot enter a parent attribute name if it was not defined as an attribute in the table.

  3. Save and close the window.

Test Organizer Settings

This is where you can make various central settings for test management. For example, you can define a workflow, set up a release status schema, or assign a custom IT Service Management message type to each test case error type. For more information, see

Registering a Client–Side Automated Test Tool or a Third-Party Test Tool

You can register a client–side automated test tool (CBTA or a third-party test tool) with which you want to create automatic test cases. You can also register a partner tool that you want to use to manage test cases.

Prerequisites

  • You have read SAP Note 519858Information published on SAP site.

  • You have installed a certified external tool on the local machine of the user or the tool is available via a Citrix client. To install the tool, you have called transaction SE37 and used the SET_EXTERNAL_TOOL function module to make the following entries in the customizing table ECCUST_ET:

    • a working name for the tool

    • the PROG_ID of the test tool's certified interface (case-sensitive)

    • a description of the tool

    • the local database of the tool, if it has one

  • You have generated a standard user in the SAP Solution Manager system. To do this, have run the program ECATT_GENERATE_ET_USER from transaction SE38.

  • The third party tool must use the predefined user ECATT_ET_USR for the communication with SAP Solution Manager. The role SAP_ECET is assigned to this user.

  • An SAP GUI 7.40 is installed on the front-end computer.

  • GUI scripting is activated on the front-end computer.

Procedure

  1. In the customizing of SAP Solution Manager (transaction SPRO), go to Start of the navigation path Capabilities Next navigation step Test Management Next navigation step Test Management with SAP Solution Manager Next navigation step Test Automation Framework Next navigation step Setup Next navigation step Register Test Tool End of the navigation path.

    You go to the Customizing Table for External Test Tools screen.

  2. Choose Change.

  3. Choose New Entries.

  4. Under Tool Name, select a test tool and enter the required information.

  5. Choose Continue.

  6. Save and close the window.
