Procedure documentationProject Reporting

Project leads and project managers can use the project reporting in SAP Solution Manager 7.2 to get an overview of the projects for which they are responsible.

Procedure

  1. Access the reporting from the SAP Solution Manager launchpad (transaction SM_WORKCENTER), under Start of the navigation path Project and Process Management Next navigation step Projects (Analytics) End of the navigation path.

  2. The dashboard is empty by default. Click the filter icon and select the project you want to analyze.

  3. The tiles are then filled with information.

You can use the following dashboard tiles:

    • Project Plan and Schedule

      • Project Countdown: days until the end of the project, calculated from the start and finish dates of the project. When the finish date has passed, the rating changes to red, and the days are shown as a negative number.

      • Schedule: Shows the percentage of tasks for which the finish date is in the past, and were completed in time. Tasks that need to be finished in future are not considered, neither are milestones or quality gates, which are considered on other dedicated tiles. The value is 100% if all due tasks have been finished in time, as defined in the project schedule. You can drill down to the list of relevant tasks, where you can see the description, start and finish date, severity, status and processor of each task. You can click a task to navigate to the task editor.

      • Quality Gates: number and statuses of quality gates in a project. Incomplete quality gates are To Be Completed, whether or not the finish date has already passed. The tile considers all quality gates of the projects, to guarantee full transparency. You can drill down to the list of quality gates to get similar information as for the tasks under Schedule.

      • Milestones: See the information under Quality Gates.

      • Tasks: total number of uncompleted tasks that are behind schedule because their finish date is in the past. These tasks require immediate processing. Quality gates and milestones are not considered. You can drill down to the list of quality gates to get similar information as for the tasks under Schedule.

    • Project Execution

      • Initial Scope: number and status of IT requirements. You can drill down to the list of IT requirements, to see the description, transaction type, priority, finish date, status, processor, and manager. Each one is a CRM transaction with follow-up document, such as changes. You can click an IT requirement to navigate to the editor.

      • Scope Changes: number and status of change requests. You can drill down to the list of change request to get similar information as under Initial Scope.

      • Completion Rate: percentage of completed changes in relation to the total number of changes in a project. All changes in a project are follow-up documents from the initial scope or scope changes, or additional changes, which are not follow-up documents. You can drill down to the list of changes to get similar information as under Initial Scope.

      • Effort: percentage of the recorded effort in relation to the total estimated time for a project. The value is calculated from the recorded effort divided by the estimated effort (estimated time). The result can be more than 100% if the estimation to finish a task was too optimistic. The basis for the calculation is the time feedback for the tasks. You can drill down to the list of tasks to get similar information as described under Schedule.

    • Project Assets

Issues: number of issues that are assigned to the project, for which no solution is available from SAP. If the number is greater than zero, the color of the number is yellow. (There is no status "red".) You can drill down to the list of issues, to get additional information like the transaction type, priority, finish date, status, and current processor.
