The Business Process Operations
(BPO) work center provides access to all tools to ensure the operation of your core business processes. From this work center, you have access to Business Process Monitoring metrics and alerts.
You have authorization. See the SAP Solution Manager Security Guide on SAP Support Portal: Security Guide
.
To receive alerts, you need to have set up Business Process Monitoring for at least one business process (business process step and technical interface) in Solution Documentation of your SAP Solution Manager.
The Overview
work area provides access to all other work areas in this work center, with high-level descriptions of the content in each of these work areas.
From here, navigate to any of the other work areas, to display the contained functions.
The Alert Inbox
work area allows you to display alert information. All alerts are listed, for which there are alert groups which have not yet been confirmed by an end user (auto confirm is possible as well). In other words, when a critical event occurs, an alert group is opened and it is closed, when the event is over, that is the status is green again. Such an alert is listed in the Alert Inbox with its worst rating, but with current rating green and does not disappear from the alert inbox until it is not confirmed.
The following ratings are possible:
Rating | Meaning |
---|---|
Red | Alarm/very critical alerts |
Yellow | Warning/critical alerts |
Gray | Inactive/undefined alerts Note Alerts are inactive if an agent can no longer report them, for example in case of a system failure. End of the note. |
Green | OK |
For the following BPO areas, there are individual queries listing the corresponding alerts:
Throughput and Backlog
Job
Interface
Consistency
Exceptions
Performance
The Alert Inbox in the BPO Work Center has an additional process query, so that you can filter for alerts of a specific process or a group of processes from Solution Documentation. Before using the process filter you need to select the solution (and branch). As Solution Documentation structures are system-role independent you need to set a system role. By clicking Reporting
on top of the Alert Inbox work area, you can access an application that provides you with information on alert number trends, confirmation time trends and many more alert processing relevant key figures.
For more information, see Reporting the Operations Control Center Workload and Performance.
Select an alert in order to display not yet confirmed alert groups. You have the following options:
Confirming an alert group
Assigning an alert group
Showing details for the alert group. This includes all metrics that belong to the alert group, including their measured values, and access to the detail list on the managed system.
Creating an incident or a notification for the alert group.
Creating an analysis report.
Adding a comment
Executing a guided procedure for the alert group
Below the alert table you can find the related business contexts and technical scenarios in the Where-Used-List
section. From the business context, you can navigate to the Business Process graphic view
The Business Process Monitoring
work area allows you to display all metrics collected in Business Process Monitoring , for the steps and interfaces in your business processes. In addition to the monitoring application, the same process query is contained as described above for the Alert Inbox application. The process selection is persisted across both applications.
The work area displays the following:
Business processes with active monitoring are grouped below the business scenario to which they belong. You can expand the processes to see the steps and interfaces with active monitoring.
If in solution documentation a process diagram has been created for a monitored process, an icon is displayed with which you can launch the process diagram enriched with monitoring information with similar interaction as in the tabular view.
Per process, process step and interface the current monitoring status is displayed as follows:
On process level with bars indicating the distribution of the rating per area
On process step and interface level with a box indicating the worst rating per area
By clicking the bars and boxes of the areas Job
and Interface
, the corresponding native monitoring applications are launched for the jobs and interface related to the process context.
By clicking bars and boxes of the other areas, a popup is posted containing details on the rated metrics grouped by monitoring object and you can see the following:
Value
Shows the measured value. By clicking the value, you navigate to the list of related records (for example. overdue orders).
Rating
Shows the rating for the value.
Trend
By clicking Trend
, you can access the metric trend (that is. the trend of the measured values).
Last Date and Time
Shows the time stamp of the last data collection.
System
Shows the source of information (that is the measuring point).
Area
Shows the BPO Area to which the metric belongs.
On the right hand side a column displays the number of not confirmed and not postponed alerts for the process context for all BPO areas. By clicking the value you navigate to the alert inbox.
The Data Consistency Management
(DCM) work area gives you a filtered view of the alert inbox for all consistency-relevant open alert groups in Business Process Monitoring based on MAI for your business processes, using the alert queries Interface
and Data Consistency
.
By selecting the number of alerts per business process, process step or interface, you can navigate directly to the alert inbox.
Data Consistency Management provides the following functions:
Cross-Database Comparison
, which compares complex data objects between two systems (including non-ABAP systems)
Internal Database Comparison
, which compares the content of two tables in any ABAP system
Consistency Check Report Scheduling Verification
, which checks if the recommended consistency checks have been performed on your managed systems
Guided Self Service for Data Consistency Management
, which provides guided procedures to detect and analyze inconsistencies
Transaction Correctness Check
, which evaluates the adherence to the SAP LUW principle of your customer coding
Use the hyperlinks to the consistency checks and tools to access them directly (in a separate window).
The Business Process Analytics
work area gives you access to the Business Process Analytics function, with which you can analyze key figures for the throughput and backlog of the business documents and technical documents that were processed in your business processes, graphically. The analysis allows you to:
Compare organizational units (such as sales organizations), to localize bottlenecks and analyze their causes.
Detect recurring patterns in the occurrence of exceptions in the business process execution (systematic errors).
Identify trends, prevent critical developments, and optimize the implementation of your business processes.
Select and apply a timeframe for which to analyze key figures. Select and analyze key figures. The graphical analysis opens in a new window.
You can configure data from Business Process Monitoring on MAI and Business Process Analytics to be displayed as graphics in panels, and can combine several panels into dashboards. The Dashboards for Business Process Operations
work area displays these dashboards, either embedded or in a separate window.
Select a dashboard in the Dashboard
field.
You have access to the following configuration relevant applications:
Solution Administration
to maintain logical component groups of the solution.
Setup Monitoring and Analytics
to enter Solution Documentation in order to create and configure Alerting
and Analytics objects
for documented business processes.
Monitoring Object Administration
to mass maintain monitoring object configuration.
