Function documentationHANA and BI Monitoring

 

HANA and BI Monitoring monitors the following, centrally:

  • SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (BW)

  • AP BusinessObjects business intelligence (BI) solutions

  • Data Services systems

  • SLT systems

  • SAP HANA systems

  • SAP ABAP Source systems

  • BW Accelerator (BWA)

Integration

The application is integrated with:

  • Alert Inbox

  • System Monitoring

  • Notification Management

  • IT Service Management

Prerequisites

  • You have configured System Monitoring and HANA and BI Monitoring using the SAP Solution Manager configuration. For more information, see HANA and BI Monitoring Configuration.

  • You have all the required roles assigned to your user.

  • You are using:

    • SAP NetWeaver BW 7.0 or higher

    • SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform 3.1 or higher

Features

The HANA and BI monitor consists of different tab pages. The tab pages are as follows:

  • Overview: There are three sections on the Overview Tab page. The three sections are as follows:

    • Status Overview: In this section, you can view the total number of systems configured for the selected technical scenario and the total number of alerts from the Alert Inbox raised for the technical systems. You can also monitor the aggregated status of the various monitored objects in different technical systems in the selected scenario. The color code indicates the various status.

      • Red: errors

      • Yellow: warnings

      • Green: no error or warning

      • Grey: no data could be retrieved

    • Overview Monitor: You can view the system types, monitored objects type, and status of the various monitored objects. You can view the number of alerts for each system type.

    • Alert Ticker: You can view the number of alerts raised for the systems as well as the details of the alert. Note that the top five recently occurred alerts are shown in the Alert Ticker that has red or yellow rating.

  • Systems:On the Systems tab page, you can view the details of the configured systems and the objects that are monitored for each system. You can also view the status of the technical system and the alerts raised for the technical system.

    On click of any system link, the System Monitoring application opens in a new window. For more information on system monitoring, see System Monitoring.

  • Jobs: On the Jobs tab page, the following features are available

    • You can view the configured jobs based on the filter criteria. You can save and delete the filter criteria according to your requirement.

    • You can view the details of the instances of a job and the configured metric details. For more information on the different kind of metrics, refer to the guided procedure of HANA and BI Monitoring in Solution Manager set up.

    • You can view the detailed job identification data for individual monitored job.

  • BI Objects: On the BI Objects tab page, the following features are available:

    • You can view the total number of BW queries and templates that are monitored, the total number of messages and the status of messages, as well as the total number of open alerts.

    • You can view the details of the BW report by clicking the relevant report name. The details include Report Type, Context ID, Context Type, and so on.

Incident and notifications: You can create incidents for support or send an e-mail or text message to system users, business partners, and external recipients.

Note Note

When you create an incident for an instance on the Jobs tab page, by default the details of the instance are copied under Description.
