SAP Solution Manager Configuration (transaction SOLMAN_SETUP
) is based on a guided procedure framework. SAP Solution Manager Configuration is organized into scenarios. A scenario can contain subscenarios. A scenario or subscenario contains steps, which then contain the configuration activities.
The following areas are available by default in SAP Solution Manager Configuration:
SAP Solution Manager Configuration Navigation Overview
With the Personalize
button, you can adapt SAP Solution Manager Configuration to your needs. You can, for example, define SAP GUI settings, hide the help section, define save options, or display a user role check.
When you log on to SAP Solution Manager Configuration for the first time, use the DDIC or SAP* user, or a user with the SAP_ALL
profile.
In the navigation panel, you select the scenarios to configure. When you select a scenario, the system proposes to create users (dialog or reference users) that have the required authorizations to proceed with the configuration. SAP recommends that you do not proceed with the configuration with anonymous users, such as DDIC users. You then log off and proceed with the created configuration user.
Later, as a user administrator in the system, you can:
Proactively create or maintain one or multiple named configuration users to perform the different scenarios:
To perform mass user creation or role updates for users, you can use Configuration User Management
(under Related Links
).
To create one or more end users, select the scenario for which you want to authorize the users, and choose the Create New User
action in the displayed popup.
Note
Reference users are helpful if the named users are authorized to edit only one scenario, since a named user can only inherit the authorizations of one reference user.
To configure scenarios, grant yourself the authorization to edit the scenario (on demand) by choosing the Update User Roles
action in the displayed popup.
To perform configuration of SAP Solution Manager, the user starts transaction SOLMAN_SETUP
.
Note
If the user has already executed the Mandatory
scenario, the launchpad is also available. You can start it, for example, with transaction SM_WORKCENTER
.
The system displays all configuration scenarios in the navigation panel. In the content area, the overview is displayed.
The user selects a scenario from the scenario panel.
Note
For new installations or upgrades, execute at least the Mandatory Configuration
and Managed Systems Configuration
scenarios.
In the roadmap area, the configuration steps of the scenario are displayed.
The first step of the guided procedure is preselected. In the help area, the help text for the step is displayed.
To work on the configuration activities, the user selects the Edit
button in the roadmap area.
The scenario is locked for other users during editing.
In the content area, the user works on the configuration activities. Each step of the guided procedure contains one or multiple panels. Each panel has a list of , automatic or manual activities, or a UI to make customer-specific settings:
Automatic activities are performed automatically by the system, without interaction. If your organization requires, the user can perform most of these activities also manually.
Manual activities are those that you have to do yourself by navigating to a certain transaction or screen.
Customer-specific settings are those where you have a UI with input fields or options. In general, some associated background configuration is also performed, when choosing Save
, or any associated buttons. For more information, see the help tray.
For more information, see Performing Automatic and Manual Activities.
Note
In certain steps, you can switch between standard mode and advanced mode. Some features are only available in advanced mode.
The log area provides detailed information on the configuration activities. The log entries are categorized by type, for example, Error
, Information
, and Warning
. For more information on the status of configuration activities, see Calculation of Configuration Status.
To navigate to the previous or next step of the scenario, the user chooses the Previous
and Next
buttons in the roadmap area. In edit mode, the system saves the changes without confirmation.
Note
You can adapt the saving options to your needs using the Personalize
options.
The Complete
step of each scenario provides an overview of the activities performed in the configuration scenario. The user chooses the Finish
pushbutton to save the settings and close the scenario.
